I post this in an actually dead thread, so, I repost it here again. If you use SHF-F2, SHF-F3 to get more fps, you probably will loose your orientation due the fact that the horizon dissapears below your plane. Somepeople posted a brilliant idea: To make the horizon much more depper but don't drawing anything but the horizon itself (a very big blue square). This way you are not going to see any terrain (except the very near to your aircraft), but, at least, you can have an idea of your plane aspect respect the Earth. Well, I think a better aproach is to have an option to reduce the distance from where the poligons are texturized, so, the distant terrain poligons are drawn with solid colours. This way you can have more fps without loosing any detail about the terrain (except the textures). In fact, I'm sure that this option should be easy to implement and very useful for people with weak CPUs or video cards. An "extreme" configuration option could be to draw the entire terrain with no textures at all, like early WarBirds versions, but this way the effect of camouflage is negated
