Night Fight at the Baltic!

During the winter 1943-1944 Soviet bomber groups made several night attacks to the city of Helsinki and the harbor of Kotka. LW's night fighter squadrons from Tallinn and Malmi tried to defend these targets. One of the defenders was Klaus J. Scheer (NJG 100, Tallinn), who got his first victory 20 kilometers southwest of Kotka. LW had one radar station on a ship at the Baltic Sea and very good air control at Finnish coast by the Finnish Lottas. Lottas were Finnish women who worked in air control duties during the War.
