BenQ monitor
« on: October 15, 2008, 09:01:00 PM »
Got.....

http://www.benq.us/products/LCD/?product=785

Native Rez is 1920 x 1080  and is WideScreen

Looked GREAT running AHII at that setting then....

flew off a CV and climbed out some and turned back and was suddenly in CV tower and saw the spinning clipboard.

Now got Problems!

I either get the spinning clipboard and it can happen after I'm up and flying!

or ...

I'm suddenly looking up somewhere, don't know where but it's up cause I see sky and screen freeze.

Tried reinstalling both the AMD fix and the fix and the ATI drivers.

Also tried running it at the MAX standard AHII setting widescreen.

SEEMED to help for a little but then back to the same thing...........

Had NO problems with this system while I had a Samsung CRT hooked to it so thinkin monitor driver for the BenQ?

Went to site for latest but my monitor is a very new model so no updates yet.

Any suggestions?

The spinning clipboard is the manisfestation of the problems with the dual-core AMD CPU or any dual-core mobile CPU.

Just set the game to run in "Winodws 98/ME" compatibility mode.

Most strange?

Finally got it to run last night.

Hope it will run again today.

Was having NO problems with it until I installed the new monitor.

Then had the spinning clipboard or the lookin up at the sky screen freeze thing.

Did all the things mentioned but it still would not run in any rez!

I deleted the video cfg file and tried one more time OFFLINE  in 1920x1080 and it worked NP?

So ran FSautostart and went online in 1920x1080 and flew for about an hour NP?

Will see if it still works later today.

I've heard that if you're running VISTA that you have to load the specific drivers for your specific monitor.  You can no longer use the GENERIC drivers, or goofy things like this happen.

Some more thoughts............

was using it analog or is that dvi to analog conversion standard cable?

So we have cpu tellin gpu stuff and gpu tellin monitor stuff and then we see it.

With the conversion from dvi (aren't most vid cards digital now?) to analog then back to dvi (most LCD are digital?) added in?

Anyways... picked up a dvi cable.

Glade I did!!!!

Heard the analog to dvi conversion had gotten so good that you didn't NEED a actual dvi cable.

Think I disagree............ reduced cpu to gpu to monitor lag...

with AH you are dealing server, net, cpu to gpu, and probably one or to more types of lag.

Guessing that's why you need to have Vertical Sync set to always on? (aka wait for vertical sync [ati?])

ANYTHING that reduces that lag is a PLUS IMHO.
