Rays
« on: October 19, 2008, 10:52:40 PM »
The Ray players deserve the fall classic.  However, the Ray fans don't.  What a bunch of bandwagoners.  That place was a ghost town all season long despite the fact that they had a good team.  They don't deserve to be happy.

P.S.  I'm not a Redsox fan.  Just an objective observation.

You are exactly correct.  The TB Ray's have had a HUGE tarp covering a good portion of their seats due to the horrible turnout to their games.

WTG RAYS!!! tisk tisk to the fans.  I hope the Ray's get a better turnout in the coming years.

I agree, and I think that winning the pennant will hopefully create more of an interest in this team.  This team is still pretty young, and has a lot of good years ahead.

I was thinking the same thing, talk about fair weather fans.

It seems to be that way with all Florida teams though, except college.

Either way, as a RedSox fan, it was sad to lose, but the Rays definitely earned their bid in the World Series.  Good Luck to them.

I am a big fan of the Rays.  Yes, tickets are cheap ($13 for outfield seats), but I have RL to deal with.  Besides, who wants to go to the park and pay $7-9 for a stinkin beer and $4 for a dog after having to pay $20 to park.  For two people, it can get pretty danged expensive.  The only times that I have gone this year, was when someone gave me tickets.  Don't jump on the Rays fans like that.  There are many other teams out there that cannot fill a park either.

You also have to understand the sports climate in this area.  The Yankees have there spring training headquarters in Tampa.  Have for a very long time.  They are a large draw to the park when in town.  The Red Sox have their spring training in Fort Myers which is only about an hour and a half away and are another large draw when in town.  Tigers here in Lakeland.  The Rays have only been here for ten years.  They needed something like this season to draw the fans in.  You will start seeing more fans in the seats next year.

Yeah I love the fact that all those so called "rays fans" come out of their holes when their team does good. A true fan would support the team through thick and thin.

Yeah, like the "Patriots fans" of late.   How many of them were "die hard" when Tony Eason was their QB?   We both know the answer.   Boston LOST, end of story, leave the "fans out of it".   Otherwise it's "sour grapes".

 :huh

Those happen to be rays.  Hence the name of the team.  Kind if like a living mascot.  Money is donated to charity for every home run hit into the tank.  Besides, who wants to have smelly old socks as a team logo.   :lol
