Ok, I'll go ahead and get mine out of the way.
Axis After Action Report
Frame 3, Tunisia FSO
1. Initial comms with some squad CO's left a little to be desired. There were repeated announcements on Country channel and 150 (text) which was the command channel that the CiC would meet with the squad CO's about 10 minutes before launch.
2. Ten minutes before launch was not enough time to go over everything that needed to be touched on before hand.
3. Trying to get a good count of members of each squad that were present was difficult which would have led to a better feel for how many gv's were going to be going to the gv battle.
4. One squad was initially left out of the orders, but they were contacted before hand and given the orders and their assignment.
5. Co-ordination between some of the co-operating squads was not very clear in some instances.
6. Comms with squads on the gv battlefield were not very good until right at the end when there were no allied gv's left.
7. The Ju 87's varied their path from the suggested ones given in the orders which was fine since it was up to the individual squad CO's as to which path to take. However, this may have contributed to them not being able to link up with their escorts.
8. Lack of communication between the Ju 87's and escorts may have also been a factor.
9. The 2nd life for Ju 87 pilots and gv drivers took a while. I was bugging mystic2 with pm's about this for a while and appreciated everyone's patience as we worked it out.
10. The 110 strike to V97 was bounced early and stood no chance.
11. The attacks on A5 and C50 went off without a hitch and very well.
12. The defensive efforts of all bases went as well as can be expected.
13. The second strike to V97 lifted from A12 and was set on taking it down. Little did the second strike know that V97 was already being attacked by another squad. The lack of comms on that one could have meant the we lost Ju 88's trying to re-up or been intercepted, losing us more points. However, the base went down fairly easily. When I arrived on station to survey the situation, I saw that the other squad was already attacking with no resistance and kept the 2nd strike package coming in just in case they were needed.
14. The second strike to A9 went off very well and it was taken care of.
15. All squads did their best to accomplish their missions even if they were not successful the first time.
16. The strike packages and their escorts did their jobs extremely well but could have co-ordinated and communicated a little better.
Lessons Learned: The orders will come out a little more quickly the next time (RL stuff got in the way with the 2 of us doing them) and a little more clearly. Squad CO's or whomever is in charge of the squad that night need to make sure that they get in touch with the CiC fairly early in the night in the SEA to go over any questions and just to make sure they are clear on the orders. A little better inter-squad communication will help out greatly on organized attacks.
I know that this is meant to be a game, and for fun, and I believe that almost everyone had fun that night. If not, I apologize and hope that you can offer some constructive criticism for next time.
