Delay wreck cleanup?
« on: April 06, 2001, 10:34:00 AM »
It is quite magic how both plane and vehicle wrecks are cleaned away as soon as killed. Wouldnt it be more realistic and fun to have a battle field show burning and smoking wrecks for a while after kill?

For advancing units it would be nice to have some wrecks to hide behind. It would certainly also make it more difficult to ambush spawn points, which sure would improve the game.

S!

Matter of FPS and bandwidth Fokker.More stuff means less FPS and more data to be sent over the net-->More lag.My opinion...

Fighter Ace II does this, leaves craters and air craft wrecks on the field for a short time. I found it to be a plus.  Do not know how much it added to lag - could not get my joy stick to work there at all so I didnt play.

Heh well the ground was ugly yes.  As far as I could tell cratering the runway was the only way to shut down a field so the spawn point was one mass of craters on the front line fields I flew out of (or tried to fly out of). You had to be very careful on your taxi out. Craters seemed to last longer than plane wreckage which was gone after a few minutes if that. Craters seemed to be damage that lasted a while.
