Get Rid of the Scoring and Stats

Guys,

My brain hurts reading all the threads that describe all the numerous ways the scoring and stats system can be manipulated.  Perhaps scoring\stats should be used for pilots playing less than 3 months to gauge their progress.  That would be its purpose...tool for new pilots ONLY.

Without the Scoring and Stats pilots would be encouraged to fly more pilot-like.  Maybe even more team oriented (maybe not).  For users that want to manipulate stats let them play with an Excel spreadsheet offline. 

Lets send a message to HT.  Anyone else IN with this?

I think a much better approach would be to allow the player a choice to make their stats private, and to be removed from the overall ranking system.

That way, the people who are worried about the score can see what they want and people who aren't interested don't have to partispate.

Plus, I think it would be interesting to see who would actually turn their score off.

That way, the people who are worried about the score can see what they want and people who aren't interested don't have to partispate.

Plus, I think it would be interesting to see who would actually turn their score off.

I like this, alot.  Some measure of customization as to which stats to track privately would be nice also.  Many people are interested in Rank, but do look at their own stats in an attempt to judge their own growth.

yes & no...all depend the planes you'r used to fly. 50 and 30cal guns give a lower hit% than 20mm.
My stats changed from a 21% with 20mm to 11% flying pony, and F4U

WarTooth, while it will make you happy, and some other pilots, the rest of the Aces High community would be bummed out that there's no longer a, "reason" to fly. Lots of pilots in AH fly for the purpose of rank, with the system gone they no longer have a reason to fly, therefore leaving the game which results in lost income for HTC.

Don't think your suggestion will happen, Baumer's might be a better alternative.

I understand your point.  Good point! 

Stats for the community of pilots here can be manipulated in so many ways that they give no sense of a pilots comparative skills.  To have pilots that fly to be effective pilots and "pilots" that fly to increase stats measured together is the issue perhaps. 

I know my suggestion kinda scares the heck outta newbie stat boy pilots.  They are hoping it will be ignored.  The long time stat boy pilots KNOW it will be ignored. 

That being said, I accept what you have said.  Its all good though.  Just a game. This post drew out some good suggestions so far.

Some people play just for the fun of it, some play to be with their buddies, some play to improve their skills, some play for rank and score and the list goes on.  Why take anything away from anyone?

I could argue that squads should not be allowed as they encourage hoarding (or at least unbalanced play).  So lets get rid of squads and missions.

If you add the option to make scores & stats "private", it becomes more difficult to detect those players vulching each other or their shades for perk farming purposes

I aint much for the score game. But dont really see what eliminating it would accomplish. At one time I did, but the longer you play the more you see who really are the good sticks and who aren't. All I ever wanted to be was competent in every aspect of the game.

Last night I blew 1/2 my ammo load just spritzing 262s and 190s trying to veer them away from bombers. Thats how much I care about hit %. If someone wants to play another way then more power to 'em. Its their $ .

Well...I guess I have to go rake those leaves sometime.
