12 planes at 20K is indeed a horde.

First, thank you for explaining to the AH community how many planes constitute a horde.  Second, I never knew that altitude plays into the making of a horde, but coming from such a reliable and respected source it must be true.  I do have a few questions for clarification though:

1)If 12 planes are at say 19k, then they are not a horde?

2)If 11 planes are over 20k, then do they become a horde?

PS-Have the ground crews check your altimeter Sunfan, as i believe it may be off by about 5k! :aok

If you need 11 wingmen with you at all times, you may have a problem.

Meh, don't get me wrong Sunsfan, I like a good fair fight, but what guarantee do you ever have of getting one in the main arena?  In the MA whenever you engage, you are making a decision based on the surroundings on what fight you are engaging into.  If you are engaging a spit coalt at 7k and there are two enemies 190's 6k out 4k higher, you aren't engaging into a 1v1, you are engaging into a 3v1.  I can see how one can be upset if they dogfight somebody for 5minutes and THEN get ganged because the situation was clear for a fair fight for a reasonable amount of time before you got jumped.  But I'd have to venture and say 95% of unfair fights are a consequence of the pilot's decision to enter into the unfair situation.  In my original example with the spit in 1v1 with 2 190s coming in hot, you obviously are the underdog and will probably die 80% of the time unless you make quick work of the spit and then survive a barrage of 2 190's zooming at your bellybutton until somehow you can get help.  So you gotta know your chance of success is 20% going in and you can't complain after it's all said and done.  Just a general soap box not directed towards you Sunsfan, just in general to the avid MA furballer who expects Fair Fights and Etiquette to be a higher priority than No Rules War.
