I think one thing that might help is to make the MA terrain more chromatically varied, so that the default Panzer skin doesn't always stick out like a sore thumb, and so that fighting the Sherman isn't like fighting the "Predator".
That would make the terrain, "custom" which means it now can no longer be accepted into the MA.

It would be a lot simpler, I think, if HTC just changed the default skins on the German armor to one of the woodland schemes that fits in better with the MA. No recoding, no "gaming the game", or "custom" terrains- change a skin, voila- something approaching parity.

You've got to be joking, either that or this is a poor attempt at a troll.  I really can't believe someone is actually complaining about the default skins.

ack-ack

I'm not complaining at all, I just know people who do it... Just something I've been thinking about it for a while, and GV'ing against Panzers when they have their default skins on, is well... straight up easy compared to the other options...

I've gotten easy kills on people who didn't change skins.

I meant some new accepted MA terrains that are more varied.

IMO, the biggest advantage the Sherman has right now is coloration.

Actually, at one end of the scale your correct. But, also incorrect at the other end.

At one end of the scale, there are two reasons why "custom" terrain textures(tile) can't be used.

1) To avoid mass changes like were seen years ago in AKDesert. Where the entire terrain was mostly shades of brown, red and orange.
2) Changing every terrain texture(tile) in the game would make the .res files in the 10+meg size range. That is not acceptable for a main arena terrain download which should be relatively fast.

At the other end of the scale, changing say one group of terrain textures(tiles) would probably be acceptable if they could be used with existing clutter. Even if that clutter needed to be re-arranged. It would depend on the overall impact on the .res file.

I've approached one of the masters of terrain textures, Nuttz, on more than one occasion to make a single set of textures for a couple of terrains with no reply.

I've also thrown out the idea of 4 res files dedicated to the terrain textures. Once each for winter, spring, summer, fall. Then the person creating the terrain selects which tile set to use for it. Heck, it could also be a rotation option for the arenas.

Woah woah woah..

Color or not, what is it? "Its shaped like a tank"
Pink purple green or blue, what is it? "Its still shaped like a tank"

Is it moving? "yes" Its a tank.
Does it look like a tree? "No" It looks like a tank.

Is it firing at you? "yes" its a tank.

Take your skin "hes got the advantage" and sit on it. :rock
Unless it has a bright neon ICON over head, its a enemy tank, open fire and kill, or be killed like a man.

Thanks for pointing that out, all I've heard in the past is what can't be done in the MA as opposed to what can be done.

On a side-note, I do remember that request of yours. The one for four separate .res files for the four seasons of the year. I'm surprised it didn't catch on, and I'm still in favor of the idea.
