re-arm options

just an idea for a feature to have on the re-arm pads

when parked up and re-arming, instead of waiting 30 seconds to reload an options box pops up just like the checklist and you get the choice
to alter what is re-armed/fueled.

for example differant payloads of bombs, rockets, drop tanks etc. and the choice to alter fuel load.

depending on the changes and how differant they are to the origanal payloads determines how long it takes to reload.

just an idea, i know you could just land get in the hanger change it and re-up, but when you got kills and want to keep flying and need a
change of tactics this could be useful

I've thought of this before too. I like the idea. Say you up a P-51 with no ord to dogfight, but as you RTB your countrymen cap the field and need ord to kill vh and gvs. You planned on rearming to go back up again to get more kills before landing, so you just stop at the rearm pad, select bombs and rockets, and head back out.

Happens to me a lot when I need to rearm for a CAP after a mission. I've got ord, but don't need ord anymore, I'd rather take a bit less fuel and a DT instead.

Sorry to bust your bubble.  If you upped a Slick aircraft, putting the shackels and testing out the drop sequence would be a long wait.

The purpose of the End of Runway rearm area.  Is to turn the Aircraft Fast not change its mission.  Limited Ord changes would be possible, but to put bombs on a slick a/c wouldn't.

Correct - there are mechanical differences between a dogfighter and a jabo/attack configuration that would require a significant amount of time to perform.  Even scaled back to AH standards (30 seconds) for Fuel, Ammo, and Ord - the time to make the new options "fair/realistic" would be 10 - 15 minutes - do you really want to sit on the rearm pad for 15 minutes?

Sorry to burst YOUR bubble but do you really think it only takes thirty seconds to refuel and rearm a fighter aircraft? Why shouldn't it take a minute or two to put bombs on a plane. Hell a lot of planes in game have permanent hard points and others have bomb/DT racks that only take a hand full of bolts to put it in place. The purpose of the rearm pads is to give people the chance to get a "new" plane when hangers are down and there is no other way to up from that base.

Here's an example you roll a pony to defend a base against air cons. They take out fighter hangers but are defeated. They then roll ground vehicles and you want to grab bombs to distroy them but you cant seeing the hangers are down. Why shouldn't you be able to rearm selecting a load out with bombs if the ordinance at that base is up?

Here's a potential problem:

If you are in the hanger and ord is down you can't load ord for take-off.  However, if you previously had ord loaded, you can re-arm the ord on the hot pad whether ord is down at that base or not.

So first, you're asking to keep track of if you had ord or not to begin with and making it available only to those that did.  No biggie because it already does that.  But what about the guy who has ord to begin with, drops it for his re-arm, then comes back to the pad and wants it again?  Or the guy who didn't have it and now wants it on the hot pad?

  I know that 30 seconds is a unrealistic time to Refuel and Re-Arm an Aircraft. 
How ever the installation of the equipment to DROP the bombs would take too much time.  The check out of even WWII aircraft to make sure that it was working correctly would take too much time.

This request has been made and denied by HTC before. I made this suggestion last year without the option to ADD ordinance, only to select A: How much fuel you take on and B: If you wish to RE-add DTs and ordinance you took with you. I also suggested that fuel and ammo took 30 seconds whilst re-loading ord took 2 minutes+ (variable time depending on the load out). This was shot down by HTC personally, which was a shame because I thought it was a great and historically accurate idea. Adjustable fuel loads would be particularly accurate for German and English fighters. Re-fuelling with just enough to climb back out quickly and catch the bombers on their return leg, for example.
