In the old deciduous forests before the last terrain update you could walk atop the foliage, then, when you stepped over the edge you'd drop to the next branch/leaf level until finally you were on the ground.
I used to make a game of it and see how far I could go before hitting the ground.
And yes, we can climb trees now but once you do you're stuck like a cat in a tree. They either need to make it so we can climb down or model a fire department to come rescue us.
