Hell, Sysco provides to the schools and half the restaurants people eat out at too.

That's a hell of a fast way for a restaurant to go out of business.  :huh

Am I the only person that watches Kitchen Nightmares?

:furious.................14 yrs ago, when i was in school, we had lunch ladies that cooked all the food for us like homemade and they knew you by name and you knew them.
Our school system is going right down the crapper like everything else is.

Anybody remember saying the Pledge of Allegiance every morning in homeroom?...................nobody got offended then!!!!!!!!!!

Where did you go to school at? 14 years ago I was in school as well, and our lunches really sucked. But I did love Chicken Sandwich day. I always got doubles on that day  :aok
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

The majority of lunch programs today are support by the state and the welfare systems. The schools rely on these programs for funding.  So the cheaper the food and consequently poor quality the more money the schools retain.  Hmm.... makes you wonder. :(
Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before.

Very small student body compared to staff. the school was about 20 years layed back I thought when i moved there from a school that was three times as big.

I finished my last three years of high school at "Hillbilly High"............ :lol

Here in NC the school cafeteria's budget is completely seperate from the school's budget.  So at the school level (not the state wide funding level) they cannot just take money from the lunch budget for other expenditures in the school.  I'm fairly certain the system is similar in many states.

Yes, the parents have the option of paying for a school provided lunch. I'm hard pressed to believe that (in Texas no less!) that a school district doesn't allow a child to pack their own lunch.
I've heard of that for in-classroom, let's share cupcakes with everyone (like classroom christmas parties, or halloween parties or whatever)... but not for an individual child's own lunch.

I pay for school lunch and today my kids ate :

Salade fraicheur (tomatoes, ricotta ,parmigiana with olive oil and basil)
Palette de porc provencale (grilled porc with ratatouille)
Pommes rissollées ( apple  with  salt butter* caramel)
Yoghurt ( no stinky cheese today ;))

And all for 5$ ,and I'm paying the max amount (as it depend of your income)

*I'm living very close to Brittany now :)

School lunches? What are they? No such thing here in Ireland in most schools. You bring your own or went home or went to the local fast food place.

That solves the issue nicely.

Rural schools like mine didn't have any restaurants or fast food joints nearby.

I'm glad you're pleased with the lunch your childrens school provided.

The point was, though, that "if you aren't satisfied with the school provided lunch ~ either shut up or bring a sack lunch."

p.s. I think all the cheese here is stinky.
