Can't Run AH

Hey guys,

I got a new computer recently,
and I can't run Aces High

I tried entering the arena / training arena,
and when I get it, the game stops loading textures and if im lucky i'll get to the hanger,
but when I do the same thing happens, its black white, and grey with little coloring to the shapes,
the sound either locks in a loop or just stops.

I'm thinking its my graphics card?

I have a Nvidia GeForce 6200

Does your computer meet the min requirements to run the game?

Run dxdiag from the start button, and save the info, then cut and paste the first third of the info here to see if anyone can spot a problem.

Its a new computer, so im pretty sure it does since my old computer was crap and it met the requirements.

The GForce 6200 is a very low end video device.  In the game's "Video Settings", set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 256.  Make sure you are not running the resolution any higher than 1024x768.  Maybe 1280x1024, depending on the number of background processes running on the computer.

Also, set the sound chip hardware acceleration to 3/4 from Full under the "Sound" tab of the DXDIAG utility.  If there is more than one "Sound" tab, set the m all to 3/4.

At the desktop, check the number of processes running in the background as well as the CPU usage activity in the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del).  Make sure to selec the "Processes" tab and note the total amount running in th elower left hand corner.  It should be 19 to 21 for a clean system.  Just as important is the CPU usage right next to the total count.  It should be a 0%, bouncing like a heartbeat to 1%, occasionally 2%.  Consider these numbers to be exponential, not linear.

Thanks Skuzzy,

I tried everything you said, but the only difference is im able to stay in game for like 10 seconds longer,

and the rest like Processess, for the most part the same as what you said.

Should I upgrade my RAM? or something to get more space so it can run more smoothly?

and im also thinking, maybe I should just put in my old graphics card that came with the computer?

Is there a chance it could be heat related?

Also note, I was hesitant to suggest it, but a later driver might fair better, but it could also introduce other issues as NVidia's drivers have not been the most stable software I have seen from them.

Might not be a bad idea to check under the hood and see if there is a dust/ventalation problem with your current graphics card (if you just recently tried to play AH and it didn't work, carefuly feel how hot the heat-sink is (radiator looking metal thing).  Warm is good, hot or barely-tolerable warm-to-the-touch is bad.).  If there isn't then I would still swap in your old one and give it a round.  If it works perfectly (except for the difference in performance between the two cards) then you found your problem.

Here is the latest drivers Nvidea lists for the "6"series. It is the latesr drivers period. Try em out I am unsure they are best for the 6200 but its what Nvidea gives. My buddy has a 9600 and was  having graphics problems and loaded these drivers now he is perfect. The 6200 however is an old card and I am unsure how these work with that model.
