Allmost got it
« on: October 26, 2008, 07:50:11 PM »
I have allmost got the landings, I'm about 50/50 between a rough but successfull landing a can take off from and a wreak.
I was wondering if sometime one of the trainers could fly along in the cockpit with me and talk me through my mistakes please.

Thank you, Malap.

Can you film a couple of attempts and post them? I could take a look then.

Remember that every landing you walk away from is a good landing.  :aok

Tonight i tried turning of combat trim and found it a lot easier, :D  I'm not fighting the plane all the way in, also i tried adjusting the aileron trim to keep it level and did a series of successful landing and T/Os before wreaking it.  :o

better to belly slide in, rather than snapping a gear off because of a swerve...And those props should replace nicely.  :devil

When I demonstrated the landings I used flaps which have a tendency to push the nose up. If thats still a problem try not using flaps.
Or try the trim set command after flaps and gear are lowered.

OK, I watched. You settled it down very hard and didn't flare the nose up. Remember I mentioned the flare just before touchdown?  That will reduce your rate of descent and will make your touchdown gentler and less prone to having parts fly off. Just before touchdown gently pull the stick back making the nose rise. The flare will prevent prop strikes and help get the tail wheel down.

I noticed you had your elevator trim all the way up.  I think may be part of the problem.

Yup, you aren't flaring just before touch-down. Just before you hit the ground pull back slightly to arrest the descent and just let it settle on the deck. Get that, and your sorted  :aok
