We (me and the wife) were visiting friends up in the Poconos over the weekend. About 30 miles west of Stroudsburg (in the Lehigh Gorge). We took my Jeep JK (aka Wrangler) and did some off road wheelin' with a 5 Jeep caravan of friends and friends of friends. We had originally planned to stay thru Monday and head home on Tuesday. However, I had to change plans due to family commitments and we headed home on Monday. We beat the snow by a couple of hours. The town of Lehighton (where our hotel was) saw 13.5 inches before it stopped (not bad for a forecast of snow showers). Both PA route 209 and interstate 80 were closed for several hours. Snow isn't a problem for the Jeep, but it would have turned a 3 hour ride into an all day affair. You can't drive faster than the traffic and conditions permit. So, I'm glad we left when we did in terms of time saved. However, since the JK is only a few months old, I am a bit sorry I didn't get to try it in the foot of snow.
My regards,
Widewing
It will be just fine, sir
Feel free to come back any time, just give me a call when you do
Been having trouble finding folks to wheel with around here, lately. Pansies. fraid to soil their new Jeep or FJ, or (puke) H3, etc.
Jim Thorpe/Lehigh gorge area is great, as is Hickory Run state park.
