Trans-Siberian Orchestra November 5th!!
« on: November 02, 2008, 02:05:47 AM »
Hey all! This Wednesday, November the 5th, I'll be going to see TSO at the Wachovia Arena in Wilkes-Barre! Anyone else gonna catch them in concert this year? or already have?  :D I've seen them for the past 3 years, and it's always a joy to see them, the BEST light show I ever see! I really hoping they release their new album soon! They've been talking about it for the past 2 years now.  :pray I just can't wait!!  :rock

First time I'd ever seen that. Cool.

Love TSO

That was the first tune I'd ever heard from them.
I liked it so much I KAZA'd it. (illegally yes)
Then another "Oh Holy Night"

SO impressed I was. I just went out and bought the album on CD.

So impressed with that I was.
Every year I've picked up at least 2-3 copy's  (Legally)

Got tickets for the December 11th show in Massachusetts.  First "date" in years with the wife.  Looking forward to it. :aok

I don't get TSO. Anytime I hear them I just get this image of a very ripe gorgonzola in my head.

I have tickets to the Nov. 13th show here in Salt Lake City.  My GF talked me in to going, should be a good time!!  I had heard that TSO members used to be in a fairly popular Metal band, does anyone know if this is true or what band it was?

Saw them, twice so far.

Once in Philly, once in Atlantic City.

No plans to go this year   :cry    due to a very busy schedule.

Kinda like a Dream Theater show with lights and Christmas carols.   :aok

The band was called Savatage. This song was originally titled Sarajevo-12/24 on the Dead Winter Dead album. It was a concept album that told the story of the yugoslav civil war between the serbs and muslims.

I've seen them here in Cleveland 3 times.  Last year was the best, took the family, had floor seats right next to the lift that had the flame throwers on it.  We felt like marshmallows.  We attended the late show on Dec. 31st and they stopped the concert for the new year countdown.  I have several of the Savatage albums from back in my long hair days, great music.  I still don't understand how the change was made from metal to TSO, but....

Psst

It's still metal (just with a different theme)

IE:

Loud Guitars

Long Haired Musicians

Theatrics

Light Show

Pyrotechnics

The most distinct differences would be that most are the songs are not in the key of A minor, and they use a fuller scale than a Pentatonic Blues scale for improvisation.    :rock

Jimmy, that is right, now I remember that it was Savatage.  Weren't there a couple of brothers in that band?  I remember back in the day they had a song that I thought was so good, along with an awesome music video, I forget the name of it but they were great, great musicians.  Did they have a song called something like "Hall of the Mountain Kings" or something?  That may be what I am thinking of.
