CV skullduggery
« on: November 02, 2008, 11:50:44 AM »
last night the bish make a pretty clever attack and took a port and sunk the CV in quick order relatively deep in enemy territory, the cv came back up, the enemy captured their port back, but we had the boat..

we took the boat and fought off endless attacks for over an our while dragging our trophy back to friendlier waters.  It worked, the boat was ours..

Well apparently someone didn't like this too much.

Next think you know, someone with a top 10 rank pops in, takes control of the CV, points right back into enemy territory to the nearest enemy base, and lays the course to hit all the PT spawns.

nobody could get a hold of the new captain, he wouldn't respond to PMs, country.. nothing...  apparently he took the boat, set the course and went afk..

he kept it for a long time, until it got where he wanted to to be, right off an enemy base, right on top the PT spawn, right in range of the shore battery, where of course, it got sunk.

good times :furious

how about a "time out" on CV control..   the details would have to be hammered out, but something along the lines of if the person in control of the CV doesnt isnt near it (within its dar ring) for over half an hour, they give up command, and they must be ding SOMETHING.. I.E. manning a gun, in a plane.. something.. not sleeping in the tower..
Of course this just a "rough draft" idea so don't pick the details apart, but but you get the idea.

2 Things

Im trying to be tactful, im not naming the person so don't ask.

Neither me nor my squad were involved in the take of the CV, Im not just being butthurt.  Its just that it was one of those increasingly few times in the MA where you see a well planned, concerted effort really shine, the battle was intense and everything was well played by all parties involved both friend and foe. The tide shifted multiple times and things got and stayed crazy, alot of people had alot of fun on both sides. It was defiantly the kind of thing that keeps the subscription going.

And then to have it all undone by the most underhanded, cheap, and pathetic means possible, just really pisses me off.

Sounds like a blast, move on to the next fight ! Why worry about some dweeb taking the cv back? Chances are it would have been recaptured over night anyway. Sure what the clown did was "gamey" and child like, but why let it spoil your fun?

You know I dont condone switching sides to do anything like this but one thing that ruins the game is people that hide CVs. CVs are fun and taking them out of play stinks.

Poo-poo on both of you.

The way I see it, planned and launched a sneak attack that then lead to some pretty fun and intense battles that lasted over an hour.  In fact if it was continued to be used I don't think I'd have any issues, but if it was just going to be stuck away in some corner of the map to be ignored by everyone then I just don't see the fun in that.

To be fair I think intentionally trying to put it in a situation where it would be surely sunk is a little to drastic in the other direction, but bringing the CV into play where it can promote more battles and fights between players and introducing the chance that it might be sunk would have been the more proper thing to do IMHO.

the CV was FAR from "hidden" it just wasn't SMACK IN THE MIDDLE of enemy territory..  it was about a sector and a half from the nearest enemy base.

I too don't like when people squirrel the boats away to where they are useless, but that was not the case in this situation.

I think the thing that got under my skin, is that what happened after we took it, REALLY pointed out, underlined and highlighted the prevalent MA attitude of "anything you can, any way you can".  seems now the majority of the folks you see in the MA are not focused on having fun playing a simulation, having a good fight, but instead derive their pleasure from finding and exploiting the quirks of the game.

Carriers are meant to be sunk.
It may have been 1.5 sectors from an enemy base but which direction was it headed?  Not to attack I bet.
It was taken away with the intent of avoiding a fight. At the very least avoiding having it NIT and attacking your bases.

Name please.

Why would you respect someone who's obviously such a dweeb by protecting thier identity?  I think they should be called out publicly.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.
