Good idea, but potentialy a pain in the arse when their intentions are for good (somoene coming on for the evening and starting up a CV to take out some enemy bases before they go to bed in 2-3 hours).

I was thinking since it's ranked base, have it so when someone takes over a fleet they essentialy take responcibility for it (even if they disco or change sides imediatley before plunging the CV to it's doom).  Have the success (or failure) of the CV they assumed command of then impact their score.  I bet this would happen a lot less if by the second waypoint the CV you took over gets sunk, you get a penalty that takes you from #10 to #200.  It could also stir intelligent use of CVs, say a CV participates in 5 base takings before it's sunk, the person who took command of the CV and who chose the fruitful coarce could see a decent rank boost.  If a CV only took one or two bases, have it result in no or minimal change in rank.
Yes but how much, really, how much is it used for good. 1/1000 maybe?

last night the bish make a pretty clever attack and took a port and sunk the CV in quick order relatively deep in enemy territory, the cv came back up, the enemy captured their port back, but we had the boat..

we took the boat and fought off endless attacks for over an our while dragging our trophy back to friendlier waters.  It worked, the boat was ours..

Well apparently someone didn't like this too much.

Next think you know, someone with a top 10 rank pops in, takes control of the CV, points right back into enemy territory to the nearest enemy base, and lays the course to hit all the PT spawns.

nobody could get a hold of the new captain, he wouldn't respond to PMs, country.. nothing...  apparently he took the boat, set the course and went afk..

he kept it for a long time, until it got where he wanted to to be, right off an enemy base, right on top the PT spawn, right in range of the shore battery, where of course, it got sunk.

good times :furious

how about a "time out" on CV control..   the details would have to be hammered out, but something along the lines of if the person in control of the CV doesnt isnt near it (within its dar ring) for over half an hour, they give up command, and they must be ding SOMETHING.. I.E. manning a gun, in a plane.. something.. not sleeping in the tower..
Of course this just a "rough draft" idea so don't pick the details apart, but but you get the idea.

AS said before, posting the nameof this person who did it (apparently unitentionally) wouldpossable take this thread in a skewed direction.

Im not on a witch hunt, im just pointing out that allowing anyone to have unchecked control of a CV, probably needs an additional check.  such as a timeout for inactivity or something to that effect.

basing the privelage of ownership on rank, is no good considering rank means nothing in so much as skill, honor or anything remotley relevent.

Perhaps if there was a requirement that you actually must BE on a CV to control it and not AFK for more than 5 min might be a possible solution... just a thought.

I don't often post a top 25 or 10 rank, because I have no desire to.  However, when I have over the last few years it was because someone was annoying me with their poor CV command the evening before.  Rank does not automatically equal skill because many with skill have found that playing for rank does not keep the game "fun" for very long.  Do not be fooled into thinking that any skilled pilot cannot rank in the top 50 on a whim, because most can.

The game mechanic to correct the issue is to either get a better rank yourself for next time, or to be friends with someone who will.

I do agree by the way with the idea of prohibiting taking CV command after a country change for a brief period.  Like 20-30 minutes.  Just long enough to prevent someone switching sides to sabotage an ongoing battle.  That has been a problem in the past enough times for it to at least be considered.

Just curious WingNutt, are you sure if it was in the top 10 ranks?

Amsoil21    1    3    4    11    5
SHawk    2    13    7    10    4
pacerr    3    14    6    13    6
Bruv119    4    18    12    7    17
Malan    5    47    3    8    13
md68    6    46    10    9    11
Hoagi    7    5    24    37    14
LYNX    8    33    5    28    34
jackraid    9    86    13    3    3
Gat76

I dont recognize any names that are known for doing bad things... just the usual from what I can see.
agreed, hoagi is bish, but he rarly ever goes AFK...and when he does he drops what hes doing, even a CV. that said, i dont see any other bishops up there that i can recognize. if Wingnutt is referring to the Jokers Jokers and Hoagi (which i hope he isnt, as the Jokers are not a bad squad) then they have seriously changed in my 3 days back at flying, and my 2 weeks off...

Nope never saw this fact in the thread. I dont really believe it anyway. Do you? Did you know that apes have 97% of the same DNA as humans?

But who cares? And you cant prove it either way. I guess he changed sides like that, wrested control of the CV he had just been fighting, all in order to protect it from harm? Then it accidentaly got pointed at PT spawns right when an emergancy forced him to choose family or cartoon. :rofl

And after reading most of this thread my info is about as straight as anyones. Most of all yours. Should I see someone playing like this I will speak plainly and wont cause 4 pages of nonsense. Let me see he, "changed sides, took control of the CV, pointed it right at a PT spawn, and then had a family emergency"? :lol Then he was tormented by the decision to either give back the CV or start CPR on his family member? :rofl Or maybe it was a fire? :lol An inbound ICBM? :rofl No matter what the emergency was he did the "right" and "noble" thing. :D In lieu of doing a crummy thing like changing sides, aiming the CV at a PT spawn, spitefully telling his squadies to sink it, and then got caught as the CV sunk. Instead of doing "that" he did the "right thing" and chose his family. Tell me? Who was this noble fellow? He's a regular "family man". :rofl

Not attacking you for being gullible....but I have a bridge for sale if your interested.

Gullible?? lol think not.
You assume this person changed sides. No mention of him being on other team was made. You just assumed and we all know what that means. The original post said he had just poped in which means he could have been there all along but was just noticed because he took over the Cv or that he had just logged on.

I regularly change sides to the lowest number team. It makes it much easier to find fights. Most will tell you.... I fight the hardest for the green guys no matter what chess piece is by their icon.

I personally think their daring capture made for a good ongoing fight that made it enjoyable for a bunch of folks who like a good fight. I wish I could have been there!

Thats a nice touch tho aint it? :lol That a "family emergency" made you do it and then you had to pick between screwing the cartoon enemy or saving your family member? Hahahahahaha I mean thats beautiful. :rofl And you know what? Some people here, if not most, actually believed it. hahahahahahaha

Theres only one Rook in the top 10 with both the gall and the stones to pull off such a lowlife manuever and then lie about it so smoothly that all you civilians would believe it. Theres a few who would do it on purpose as payback and then look you in the eyeballs as they told you why. But there is only one who would do it like this. Just tell me was it a Rook or a Nit behind this comedy? :rofl

"A family emergency"? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahaha :lol :rofl

It was a bishop "that is a member of a squad not exactly known for honorable actions", and unless he omitted that particular detail, no one changed countries just to do this. Several people mentioned changing sides in the thread, although I don't believe that actually occurred- just the normal paranoia in that regard.

As far as there being an emergency that required an immediate absence, but leaving the game running... meh, who knows.

Life and death? No one said anything aboiut life & death emergency. Could have been anything.

In my many years of life I have found that the person who worries about any particular thing is usually one who does that same thing day in and day out. Someone who steals is always thinking someone is stealing from them. Someone who cheats on their spouse is always thinking their spouse is cheating and on and on.

Top 10 ranking was said... but ranking means nothing in this game. It is so simple to rank as to be comical. I've seen folks high in the ranks that could not fight even a decent fight when they were in a trainer. So ranking does not make them a top stick nor does it make them someone who knows all and sees all.

I have no reason to doubt someone having an emergency simply because it can happen. Now if your priorities are so simple that you place so much concern on a cartoon boat... I pitty you indeed.  :rofl
