Gents,
      Was hoping someone could tell me the cylinder spacing of a Merlin engine typically found in the Spitfire Mk IX? I am planning a scale project and dont seem to be able to find any specifications for it.

I don't know the spacing, but you should specify if you mean Merlin 61, Merlin 63, Merlin 66 or Merlin 70.  All of those engines were used in Spitfire Mk IXs.  The Merlin 66 was the most common, but a lot of people seem to think of the "real" Spitfire Mk IX as being the Spitfire F.Mk IX with the Merlin 61 like we have in AH.

   Any series is exceptable as long as we know which one perhaps even specifications for the Mk XVI would be great.

Shouldn't be to hard to figure out from some drawings. The bore is a known, so a 'ruler' can be made and then used to measure the distance.

That engine is insane and a feat of craftsmanship. Judging by the hours he spent I would say he could have bought 3-4 of the real thing at normal shop rates.

It sounds great too!

Not sure about the cylinder spacing of the Merlin, but the bore was 6 inches and the stroke 5.4 inches. There was no variation on this for any Merlin variant.

I believe you transposed those numbers....my specs show a bore of 5.4" and stroke of 6".
