Could one of the many Brit members please explain the game of cricket?  Was channel surfing yesterday and saw a game in progress and stopped to watch.  Turned after a few minutes as I couldn't understand it.  Thanks.

Ahhrr  the thwack of willow on leather,
cucumber sandwiches, beer in the sun...
a gentlemans sport lasting days at a time...
great fun and very easy to understand

The Rules of Cricket

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.

Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.

When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out.

Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in.

There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.

When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

there you go ......simple

So the Brits made a national sport out of a gay orgy?!?!?!?!?! :uhoh :uhoh :uhoh

That's about what your "explanation" read like. It does explain a few things however........ :huh

Thanks for the description Wobbly.  Best I have heard so far although Jimmy's was a little odd.  So odd it was slightly funny.

Think I will stick with baseball even though my Rays lost the Series.  Will probably watch cricket again if it is on.

The traditional cucumber sandwich is composed of paper-thin slices of cucumber placed between two thin slices of crustless, lightly buttered white bread.

cucumber sandwiches? eeugh!  I simply cannot stand cucumber in a sandwich.

I've definately become more fond of cricket as i've become older.

"the Sandwich" invented  in 1762 by John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, who came up with the invention so he could stay at the gameing table (cards) so the game would go uninterupted, changed dining forever. With a serving of roast beef placed between two slices of bread, the Earl created a complete meal he could eat with his hands, and stay gambling. Brilliant! The Sandwich was born.

never been to a gay orgy but I`ll take your word for it Maverick that there are similarites... :P
