movie: Behind Enemy Lines ..ROFL
« on: November 03, 2008, 10:19:51 PM »
Ok ..I wanted to see this movie when it came out ..thought it would be cool an stuff.

Ok ..the shoot down was cool ..an stuff.

However ..the idea of a foreign national tellin a CV Commander ..2-star no less ..what to do.

ROFLMAO.

Good luck with that.
Hope it works out for ya.
Completely destroyed suspension of disbelief.

I don't care if he has the President on the line,
..the CV Commander is the man on the scene,
can and will execute any and all actions in his best judgement of the situation.

The paperwork comes after :)

Sorry .. just had to vent :)

Ever watch 'the Great Santini?' (think that's the title ..Robert Duvall plays an F-4 pilot)

..that's the coarse version of a Navy Commander :)

They are bigger, better, badder ..and it's *their* ship Mister.
Even a tugboat commander would do the deed, wouldn't matter if the Ruler of the Universe was beside him..
..it's *his* boat.

The "Great Santini" is an awesome movie. Another Robert Duvall must see.

"Behind Enemy Lines" not so much.

Well if you want to get down to the nitty gritty it depends on the situation.  But I've personally seen an enlisted member hang up on an O-5 during a mission.  It's all about the ops being conducted.

Probably the best scene in the movie besides the plane chase and the last scene is the tank firing down the hall.

This is the same crappy movie where near the end, 2,000 troops, some APCs, mounted MGs and whatever else, fire about 100,000 rounds from 100 yards away, and hit neither Wilson, nor the chopper, right?

Sucked.

If you really want a laugh, watch the bonus features of two of the computer CGI animators sitting in a simpit doing a practice run of the shoot down scene.  "SAM coming up!"  "Do a Half-Cuban!"  "Now, Yo-Yo!" lol!

Unfortunately, I do not have a DVD ripper program on my home or work station.  If someone knows of a good freebie ripper program, I'll try and do it.

I liked it.  I don't think it was an accurate representation, but it was very entertaining. And isn't that the whole point of entertainment?

The scene with all those guys just blastin away at each other at the rescue was hilarious.

Well if you want to get down to the nitty gritty it depends on the situation.  But I've personally seen an enlisted member hang up on an O-5 during a mission.  It's all about the ops being conducted.

Yup Ive done it myself during drills. The guy in charge of the ops room tells the officer on deck (captain or CO) where to stear the boat during an "air raid". Basicly I took command of the ship in those situations. The captain/co knows that the guy in ops has a far better SA than the they have on the bridge. In the new boats this is somewhat changed though because now the captain/co's place is in the OPS room.

Ive even seen an enlisted special forces guy kick a fresh officer around because the fresh officer didnt like the way the enlisted man wore his uniform. That was something i wish i had filmed. That junior officer was foaming and jumping up and down without that doing much good :D
