Where are FW-190F8 loadouts?
« on: April 11, 2001, 09:12:00 AM »
Yeah where are FW-190F8 loadouts?

F8 had 16 different loadouts/field conversions Rustsatze 1-16.
F8 was designed to carry centerline 1000kg bomb.
F8 main armament is considered to be rockets and rocketbombs. For example 24xR4M rockets were often used against russian armor and infantry.

Has somebody enough data to list all F8 Rustsatze? It would be nice would nice to see all loadouts.

Where are the loadouts on half the other planes, the La-5/La-7 a2g options for instance?

The truth is there is only so many man-hours available and so much to do.

Be glad the LW has a jabo plane.

Bigger bombs seems some kind of compromise.. since there isnt 2000lb bombs either for my wonder...

Though, im surely missing those rockets, thats something what allies has and WGr.21 didn't work for a year like supposed to!
now where is those rockets, I was expecting those with F8

Have put the F8 in hangar and rolled the A8 out again. For practical use same vulnerability, less weight and 4x50 pounds peanuts less to care about.

Many of those Rustatze kits remained in the book from earlier versions, but weren't used in more than a couple of planes (like the MK 103 loadout).  I would like to see at least one rocket loadout though.  I'm not sure that it was used on anything more than a trial basis, but it would be fun.

Aces High only has the F-8/R1, which is 4xETC 50 racks(ie: 4x50kg bombs) on the wings.

The most useful other kit would be the F-8/U1: Long range jabo, which by 1944 had replaced the Fw 190G-8 in that role. ETC 503 racks on each wing capable of carrying either a 300l drop tank or 250kg bomb(2x250kg on wings + 500kg on centreline = 1000kg bombload  )

Another highly useful piece of equipment would be the ER 4 adaptor, which allows 4x50kg bombs to be carried on the ETC 501 centreline rack(+ 4x50kg on wings = 8x50kg total bombload  )

With those two additions the versatility of the Fw 190F-8 would be increased greatly, methinks.

Yep U1 would really be nice, and it's the configuration I asked for when I started my F-8 campaign.  I don't know how many U1 planes were assembled, but it's basically the same as a G-8 which was produced in the hundreds.

And the ER4 should be available on any plane with an ETC 501.  We've got the 50 kg bombs, so there's no reason not to have this adapter.

Funked, i think rockets were used much more than in trial basis. If anyone has any numbers it would be good.

My book here(Warplanes of the LW) says:
"The most important(f) subvariant was FW 190F-8, which could carry 14 21cm (8.27inch) rocket bombs, six 28cm (11.02inch) rocket-launchers or 24 R4M unguided rockets. FW 190F-8s first joined III(pz)/KG 200 in the autumn of 1944."

Well I have a book on the Fw 190F-8 in AH (White 7) and they show a lot of pictures of F-8 squadrons and interviews with pilots, and there's no images or mention of the rockets.  I have about 10 other books on the 190 and none of them claim that the rockets were used on a wide basis.  Who knows...

I'd like to see them as a loadout option regardless.  We know they were used in at least some capacity, and it would make the plane more entertaining and useful.

PS The book on White 7 is:   Fw 190, Workhorse of the Luftwaffe", Jay P. Spenser, Smithsonian

Focke-Wulf Fw190/Ta152 by Manfred Griehl/Joachim Dressel ISBN 3-613-01681-8 has some very convincing material on Panzerfausts used on the F model at least from january 45, with some succes.

Also same book + at least one other (Focke Wulf Fw190 in Combat by Alfred Price ISBN 0 7509 2548 5) mentions cluster bombs (SD-2, SD-4 and SD-10) including interview with a former pilot.

Alas my new rig gives some problems with the USB ports so the scanner is out at the moment. Will post when fixed.

Dowding, you must be kidding...

LW seriously lacks a ground-pounder. With current loadout-options the F8 can knock out 1 or 2 Panzers/Ostis at max. ... those 50kg "peanuts" have to hit right on spot - many times I placed all 4 of them right on a GV without doing any visble damage.

Allied with their magical Hispanos can strafe GVs at will - hell, even the Spitfire is a better tank-killer than any LW-plane here. And the newly introduced Yak model makes GVs pop like balloons.

Bring on those rocks!!!

I wonder if even Ju87 G would do anything for panzers
They would again find out how poor trajectory it had and so on.. excuse it with that sort of stuff.
Hispanos sucks.. one great reason why I keep out of AH. (it can blow tanks but other 20mm cannons can't do anything useful?)

I certainly hope that HTC add the 1000Kg bomb and some rocket loadouts to the F. I was really looking forward to getting my hands on a real LW JABO only to find out that the limited loadout limits it's usefulness (e.g. where do I get the 2000lbs I need to take out a VH?). The 50kg bombs are a waste of space: It's not as if they are capable of harming anything other than ack and the lighter GVs, and guns and rockets are much better at that.

Didn't the LW also try modified 190s carrying 2000Kg bombs? That would be an interesting option (perhaps for a few perk points?). How many 190 does it take to sink a carrier?
