A dark day for us all.
« on: November 06, 2008, 10:16:18 AM »
Today is one of the worst days the 78th FG has had to endure. Due to the dormitory politicians that fly these skies and the bashing that went on the night of the elections we lost the 84th FS and MjTalon. When they announced the winner there was enough bashing going on that it forced one of our pilots to cancel his account and disband a great squad. It's a shame that even in the toon skies we can not escape such hatred.

Seriously folks this is a game and when you take the fun of it away from someone you are in the wrong! If you need to vent your political choices start a blog and keep it out of the arenas!

Nuff said!

Maybe a realistic switch of, "Radio On/Off" that corresponds with the 5 radios would help such a situation?

Correct a simple mute would have worked but then you miss out on range traffic that could be vital while flying and a few of the comments as I understand it came from with one of talons own 84th FS..

In any event, when people take a conversation to the extent that it made someone cancel an account is just plane ridiculous. it shows poor judgment and taste on the part of the antagonist. The only thing people should be worrying about is checking their six and checking their mates six.

Yeah, guess the squelch list should be enlarged and perma-squelch enacted.

I do understand what you're saying, though. It is quite ridiculous.

LOL...what nonsense. An argument is a 2 way street. He could have chosen not to participate. People who rant about politics on 200 always amaze me. If it was on range, just mute the one guy. Thats all you have to do. Its so simple. Blaming it entirely on the "antagonist" is kind of lame.

For the record. It was on rook country channel. I don't pay enough attention to 200 to get into a hissy fit.

You are correct there are always more than one antagonist in every argument.

I never stated that he was apart of the debate, simply a toon pilot trying to enjoy a game. I should also mention that one of the major factors involved with the individual to leave was the use of ethnic slurs, now you tell me who is right or wrong, do you think that the person who left may have been on the defensive based on the comments made?

Here's another point for you: If people are talking crud based on ethnic or religious belief over a one of the countless channels and it forces someone to leave does that mean the individual is wrong and an antagonist?

this is a game and not a real world scenario.
no place for "real world politics".

most people, including myself fly here to escape the drudgery of every day life, if only breifly.

The only politics that should be discussed here are what the rooks, bish or knights are doing on the map to conquer the world and what can we do to prevent it.

Well what i would say is remember what game you play. There are more than a few very ignorant folks who play Aces High. I've heard some crazy stuff in this game, and it does take some thick skin sometimes. If hes just simply sick of the BS, and wants to leave, thats his choice. My advice to everyone who gets in that situation is to film everything, and report the individual in question. HTC really does police this stuff if they know about it. Lots of times, this kind of crap goes unreported. When I hear something I think is totally inappropriate, I'm the first guy to hit the report button. Finally, I would say don't let a moron ruin the game for you. Refuse to let it happen by being bigger than the other guy..bite your lip and then report. A game related argument is one thing. Racial slurs and things of that nature are unacceptable and usually are the result of a 2 weeker coming to the end of his run, or a drunk idiot who finally shows his true colors to the rest of us. In either case, the wrong thing to do is quit the game. Don't let those morons win. Report them and they will be gone. I hope you decide to come back MjTalon.
