F4U-4C might be a better plane than the tempest. I know they only made a few hundred of them but it would be a hell of a fighter. We have more Spit variants than Hogs so why not.

This indicates it was put in service during the war. It doesn't say that specifically about the 4C but it looks like it. Any chance you're wrong about it being post war? Flying either the 1C or the -4 is a blast, I can only imagine a 4C.

The F4U-4 we have in the game was the last variant to see combat during the war. Anything after that came after Japan's surrender.

That does no such thing.  It indicates the F4U-4 was in service in WWII, and so it was and we have it.  It does not say the F4U-4C was in service in WWII.  There are some photos of F4U-1Cs on operations against Okinawa mislabeled as F4U-4Cs out there, so be careful when looking at that stuff.

The American version had some small flaw, however, that made it a poor weapon when mounted in the wings, with jamming issues and such.  That's why the P-38 successfully had the M2 mounted in the nose!
