Marilyn Manson
« on: November 08, 2008, 11:58:11 PM »
...actually looks a little bit handsome without all that crap all over his face.  There's a man underneath all that crap. Who on earth would have thought? Saw pictures for the first time today without all that stuff mucking it up.

*edit* Okay, disregard that after a close up. Maybe not handsome, but a man anyhow.

Some of his music it good. I don't really care about to lyrics I listen to just to music most of the time.

Some of his older stuff is interesting.... Too 'rock star' now.

I saw a show of his years ago.... the only part of the show that was remotely interesting were the naked dancers.

They were waxed and I was happy.

That was the extent of the interest in the show.

My last Manson experience happened at the Bottoms Up club in Fayettnam (Fayetteville) N.C. about 10 years ago. Anyone who has ever been there knows that Bottoms Up doesn't have a DJ, just a Juke Box.

So naturally I was drinking pitchers of Old Milwaukee, because that's all they serve, and I was feelin' pretty good. So then one of the dancers is tryin to hit me up for a few bucks for music and I'm like alright but I get to choose. So I go to the Juke Box and I see through the haze in my eyes that there are 2 Manson Cd's. Bingo! I feed in the money to have both Cd's play straight through. First up was Beautiful People. The dancer liked that one. Then came Cake and Sodomy and I started getting funny looks. When the next song started to play and they realized it another Manson song the Bouncer came over and asked me how many Manson songs I played and I said all of them. After a small discussion of what an Ahole they thought I was because they couldn't unplug to Box to reset it. I was asked to leave. None of the girls wanted to dance to Manson and some of the customers were starting to leave. 2 Manson Cd's straight though. What a riot.

I laughed as I hopped into a cab and proceeded to Magic City. All went well there. They had a DJ.

Manson is a performing arts genius, its just that his style scares most people away before they can see that. I personally don't care for his music aside from a few tracks, but there is no arguing the guy knows how to put on a show.

It's been quite a while since I paid much attention to him, but I read two interesting interviews with him. I came away with the impression that he was just an eccentric Alice Cooper for the next generation. He seemed to have a solid grasp on what they intended to do, and how people would react to it. Seeing people wax hysterical over stage theatrics and bizarre costumes made me smile.

You must have missed the tour when he wore the extremely creepy "Slience of the Lambs" style "woman suit".

I was in Richmond at the time (working for XL102) and the market went bat guano.  Soccer moms practically showed up with torches and pichforks at the concert venues to picket.  In a way it was hillarious...because they didn't get it.  They were the ones he was poking fun at.
