in reallity
« on: November 08, 2008, 05:21:25 PM »
today i was flying in MA where i dropped on 2 190s in my c4b. after blasting 1/2 a wing off 1 of them i turned my attention to the other. as we maneuvered tracers flew past me & of course it was the 1/2 winged 190 still in the mix. i was eventually killed by it or the other but it stayed up & caused my demise.

just 1 example of my experiences with 1/2 winged planes in this game.

Ive had everthing from 1/2 spits escaping at 15K dropping to their base through 190s able to stay up & even in most cases out run my slower plane.

now I'm sure in a few rare occasions disabled planes that lost portions of wings managed to get home in the real world but is it not very unlikely that most could even stay airborn? it would take using flight surfaces like rudder flaps trim to manage it... all things that would take away E. how can these guys manage to keep speed & course let alone maneuver & fight.

if that's the way it is.... why cant i keep my 110c4b up missing a simple aileron <<<< my wine  :D

PS..... ty for spell check HTC

I once stayed in a fight in a Yak-9U missing an aileron, the rudder, one gun and leaking both fuel and oil.  I've also stayed in in a Spit XVI missing half of one wing and in an F6F-5 missing half of both wings.  It's not easy but it can be done.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Yeah ive lost a half a wing in a corsair so often that ive learned to manuver, roll, flat turn and everything else with it. landings are to easy in it now. ive also shot down 2 buffs while missing both half wings. and i have successfully landed a corsair that was missing both ailerons and the rudder.

however speed is greatly affected but at full power missing a half a wing and using trim to manage my control instead of rudder and aileron. i can keep my speeds at around 300. but i do think its not as realistic as it could be but it is a game after all. if the game was truly realistic then knowone would be able to really fly lol. we would all crash and die and forget to do all the pre combat stuff making sure our fuel mix is right and all that goody goody stuff imagin if it were that realistic

My experience of BEING the guy with the half a wing is never so fun.

My experience is your typical half wing one, the one that really underscores the mentality of the player base.  I.E. I lose half and am trying to limp home, and every con in the area drops what they are doing for a chance at some easy meat. God forbid they engage any of the other fighters who might give them a real fight, thats not how you play counterstrike.. er I mean AH.

If you maneuver before you get shot at you won't lose your wingtips  :salute

its usually the typical incident of field ack, a wirble or a CV taking off a wing tip, so ya break off and try to head home, a con, who is already in a fight, makes a b-line for ya trying to get the easy cheese.

Pfft, wingtips?

Do it without elevators or a rudder and land without breaking your gear.

I used to think it was unrealistic for AH planes to be able to stay in the air with half a wing until I saw this picture of a TBM flying back home with half a wing (among some other damage).
