Question Re New rules
« on: November 09, 2008, 12:30:29 PM »
What exactly falls under the category of "Politics".  Rage and religion is obvious, and everyone seems to agree a good idea, but nearly ANYTHING can be linked to politics and therefore be a banned topic.

If another 9/11 happens, and this is discussed, is it considered "current events" or "political".  Anything major such as this, even the war between Russian and Georgia are more or less extentions of political actions, and it'll be hard to draw the distinction between what's merely current events discussions or politics.

The main reason I read this part of the board is for the US gun law discussions.  Is discussing laws discussing politics, since it was a political act that created the laws?  I've been wanting to post and ask about the new gun laws that have to be coming down the pike, but is this splitting the hair too close as it directly relates to politics?  If so, it's kind of a shame, since this is the only US based board I've ever found that has a balanced, or at least opposing view thanks to its members.

I was hoping the new Commandment did not include historical aspect of "politics" and the effects they had on the waging of WWII had on the planes, tanks, tactics and weaponry of war.  A lot of these kids in the game could learn some things about that aspect as far as it's history value is concerned---because they sure as heck aren't being taught it in schools.

A few years ago, I subbed teaching history at the local high school for a couple of weeks.  I polled the classes and was SHOCKED at how many did not even know what countries were involved in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam...who even WON...and why they got started in the first place.  Their historical knowledge basically ended at Manifest Destiny, the railroads in the west, and monopolies and antitrust legislation.

I can very much understand why contemporary politics might be banned--because of all of those who insist on going overboard on the subject and causing major headaches.  This is by far not the first forum to do so.

Skuzzy has said it before, if you have a question send him a PM or an e-mail. For crying out loud why screw with the guy and make things worse.  :huh
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

oops.

I guess he should say that in the forum rules section. I unlike some people don't have endless time to put up 10,000 posts or read through every thread to find where he said that.  Like I said, I only really read the gun law threads.

you guys are trying really hard to push his buttons,.....and then when ya see the results are gonna wonder why ya got banned......or don;t get a friendly answer from himm.......

Sigh.  If you want to ask me a question, then ask me the question.

Posting it on a public forum with the pretense it is addressed personally to me or any other member of HTC, is just like crawling into a Bengal Tiger cage at the zoo and screaming at everyone else that goes by, "I do not think this tiger should be allowed to eat me!".

You really think the tiger is going to care one way or the other?

I know I don't.
