Ctrl I and other requests...
« on: April 13, 2001, 07:09:00 PM »
There are a few things I set-up every single time I play, which is frequently (youngster in house) means that sometimes I just log on for one flight.....

Is it really necessary to:

Squelch channel 1 each and every time?
Do the "ctrl I"m command to lose that annoying box?
Lose ground clutter?

or can we save a set of preferences to an ini file somewhere so we don't have to every single time?

Although a small set of requests, it would remove a source of irritation for me at least, maybe others feel the same?

Also......

Any chance of a toggle key to completely remove the text box from the screen? (maybe it exists already?

Cheers Fidd

Agree. This bugs me too. Turning off clutter everytime i start should not be neccessary. I guess most have clutter off as default.

I work around that by programming what I want into my Sidewinder software.

I just use one of my shifted buttons and program it to do Cntrl-I, Shift-F1, and Cntrl-S.  Works great.

I know it's not what you are looking for, but it may make things easier in the short term.

Thanks for the tip. I use alll CH rig, but even with that I'm short on buttons for all the trim etc. I'll review it to see if I can make one free. Would be better if they were permament setting though.

To remove text box from screen, I believe you can grab the corner of it with the mouse, and slide it completely, or near completely off the screen, down.

As for the rest of your post, excellent suggestions!

I do the following everytime I log in (and wish it was tasked automatically too!):

Cntl-C (turn terrain off)
Cntl-A (Highlite squaddies)
Cntl-I (turn off FR counter)
Shift F1 (max resolution)

Unfortunately, you cannot get rid of the text bar completely.  I think it would be enough if you could ".squelch 2" along with the other squelch options.

Aerial combat is the one that gets old to me. Increasing throttle every time I start is a pain, not to even mention all ACM.

We need an auto-ACM!

Do I detect some inflation in auto commands? An auto ACM, auto kill-con or auto kill Ripsnort is taking it a bit far
