Titanic Tuesday EveningI returned to the action and found a bunch of people still fighting for Tank Town. We'd lost a base or two and as I circled overhead in my Hurricane IIC I noticed an enemy Hurricane IID flying in very low circles over their nearest vehicle base. I started to dive in and at the last moment saw a pack of FLAK vehicles in the area. The Hurricane D was acting as bait.
I pulled out and somehow managed not to take any hits and turned my attention further north on a bf-109 chasing a friendly. I closed range but before I could get there, my ally was shot down. Thinking to take revenge I chased the 109 for a moment until it was 1000+ and I broke away. At the same time a NIK dove in on me and took my wing off. Another valuable lesson learned about SA.
I got up again and the fighting had moved closer to our territory. I chased several enemy planes but arrived too late each time before they were blown apart. At one point I found myself low, under 500 feet when a P-51 closed in on me from behind.I went into a Split-S and as he crossed my field of vision, I fired a half second burst, giving a little lead. It shattered his cockpit and the P-51 died instantly.
I recieved praise for the manuver from an observer named Toad who called it "textbook"

A little later while on my way north in a fresh plane, I encountered a NIK which had been killing friendlies returning home. I had about 3k altitude on him and he climbed hard infront of me. He inverted and tried to fly overtop of me, but I pulled up and put a half second burst straight into his engine and cockpit.
I then flew north-west where a friendly named MILT and I ran into a 190, bf-109 and 2 P-51s. MILT had altitude and got bounced by three while the 109 and I entertained each other. MILT soon got shot down at about the same time I shot away the 190's tail.
I dove to try and escape but with a 109 and a pair of Ponys on my tail my Hurricane had little hope. I made for the mountains hoping I'd be able to use the slopes somehow. I performed weaves and bank turns trying to get any of them to slow down and commit to something other than zooms.
I found a neat little valley going up the side of the mountain and entered it just as a P-51 dove on me. I used rudder to evade, and he slammed into the hill. I got in a couple of hits on the 109 at >500 after it overshot but a 190 joined the fight. I followed the mountain down but the P-51 soon managed to put his guns on me and at <400 and <300 he riddled me with machine guns. It was over for me.
