Cheap laptops?
« on: November 13, 2008, 05:05:24 PM »
Anyone know where to find cheap laptops...600 or less? Maybe 700. I was looking at an hp dv7z...
I'm looking for something to replace my Inspiron 6000 thats running slower than anything right now. I've done Adware, Spybot, etc you name it I've done it, nothing worked.

Anyone know/trust a place that has good deals?

Yeah TBH i doubt I'd go under 400...just because I wouldn't trust it. I really don't trust a no name brand or some online store you've never heard of.

I dont really like E-machines stuff.

Those laptops I seen on sale, I read the reviews on them and they were made with the cheapest of cheap flimsy parts. Just an "oops" waiting to happen.

I wouldnt mind a nice gaming laptop though, but too costly for me

Yeah, I've got a gaming computer so I'm not looking for something all too powerful.

I don't really wanna go back to Dells if I don't have to. What Inspiron is it? Bad thing about them is they don't have a built in web cam.

Have you looked at refurb places?  Really great deals can be found there, plus they will usually only have just an OS, and not much useless dreck added to the HD.

try these:

Wife has a refurb for work, works great and can run PS without hiccups.

I'm still amazed what the resale value of used laptops are.  Either on Craiglists/Ebay/retailers.  You spend $100+ and you can get a budget laptop thats 'new' and will  beat something thats 2+ years old.

My ex-boss's wife went to walmart on black friday for a $250 laptop last year.  I don't remember the processor but I believe it was an Acer with Vista Home Basic and only 512mb ram.  He asked me a month or so later on how to make it faster and I suggested more RAM.  I showed him that (at the time) 2gb of ddr2 was $45.  He gladly ordered it after his wife took it to a computer shop and they quoted $180 for the ram upgrade IIRC.  Must of been some computer shop

Go for lower end Lenovo's or the lower end of HP's NEW business line. Both series are solid and well buildt laptops that you can trust.

Good post. I've been looking for one to use at work to keep records, burn and play discs and surf the web. So far I'm liking the Dell Inspiron 13 for $619.00.  2gb memory,160gb hard drive, intel duel core processor, and plays and creates cds&dvds.
