332nd Flying Mongrels - 11 years old and still going strong
« on: November 13, 2008, 09:27:49 PM »
Back in 1996 docdog came by my house and told me about this cool online game called Warbirds. He then went through some aerobatics using his hands describing his flight with a P-38 and landing with one smoking engine. I was hooked from that moment on. He and I started the 332nd Flying Mongrels back in Nov of 1997 in Warbirds. A couple of years later we moved over to Aces High. It was Ghosth who talked us into that move which turned out to be the correct move as Warbirds witherd on the vine.

Many in our squad have become life long friends and have met each other multiple times beyond the yearly conventions. We have suffered together the losses of friends, parents, and even children. We have helped each other out in times of need way beyond what you might find in most squads. From docdog to OSU our latest member, we are a squad where Men become friends and friends become brothers.

To all our non-squad friends online thanks for everything. :) The CM team was a lot of work but well worth the years and time I put forth into Snapshots and Squad Operations. I want to especially thank HTC and their efforts who made this all possible. Every time I attend the Aces High Convention with my squadies everyone at HTC is very friendly and welcoming. NB, Coach, and SB were great hosts! It was great to meet so many of the 68th Lighting Lancers and spend time with them at the last convention. Class act squad.

Here are some con pictures with a few of our squadies and friends.

Baumer and daddog

None other than the crazy Finlander, Harppa who at a whim flew out and joined us in Texas.

Left to right 68Falcon, 68Raptor, Pyro, Hitech, daddog, and Baumer

Middog and 68Falcon

Partagas, daddog, and harppa

From left to Right Hack9, Simaril, Middog, Dichodog, Baumer, daddog, harppa, and Partagas.  Only one missing from that picture was Earthdog. :)

Congrats!!

11 years is a long time.  Maybe it's time for a senior citizens discount?  :aok

Actually daddog does not age, except for maybe more gray in the beard.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I haven't been with the Mongrel's long, but what a great group of guys to be with.  We might not be the greatest group of sticks in the game (we do have some excellent sticks though), but I'd put this squad up against any for helping others in and out of the game.  So  :salute to the rest of my squaddies and hoping for another 11 years.
