Stick Settings
« on: November 15, 2008, 11:03:03 PM »
In general, how do you all like your stick settings for use with aircraft?

Do you have scaling etc set to default?  Is there an 'optimal' setting for turn fighting?

I'm having some issues with rudders as it seems they are too sensitive on the low end and not enough on the mid to high end.  Throwing a rudder to full while flying straight with a slight bank SHOULD turn my plane rather quickly in reality.  But in this game it just crabs the plane and drops it.  I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about, trying to keep the ball centered in this game is very difficult with the default settings.  I posted about this in the tech area as I'm alos having stick issues but this problem was there before my stick issues.

So I'm really wondering what most people use for their aileron / elevator controls vs default and why?

:)

yea, there is an optimal setting for YOU and no one else but you can find it.
Same thing as in FPS gaming, everyone uses different mouse sensitivities and different hardware... some people change and experiment frequently. tweak until you bleed, and always blame your stick settings when you die!

Personally I like a more gradual scaling, so that I can caress the stick like a lover would caress.. wait what.

anyways here's a post by ack-ack i found with some screens

I like to fly this same way, but I have every Scale setting to 100% across the top

everyone as you put it is different, some are able to fly with a fine sensitivity while others really need the scaling because of their hamfistedness

At home I have a full CH setup. I have the sliders set more to the top, not all the way , but getting closer. However, when I travel for work I use a Saitek stick and I have to set the slider much lower. I bounce all over the place with the Saitek stick if I don't.

I'll take new screenshots as well as update the instructions on how to manually edit the stick scale settings and post them when I get back from work tomorrow evening.
