I spent 4 years active duty in the Navy.  3 years 3 months and 19 days of that on sea duty.  So far, every MRE I've eaten has beaten everyone of those except for one, the Thanksgiving meal we had in the Med. while underway in 1987.  I worked in the cargo division on a supply ship, 20 - 30 hour days were our norm, I remember hitting my rack so damned hungry I couldn't sleep.  I've learned that just about any meal put in front of me is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every day a vacation...hmmmm, where have I heard that before?  Anyway, MRE's are amazing for what they offer.  So yeah, if I could eat them 3x a day I would only there is no breakfast/lunch/dinner menu offered...but I wish there was...so does my wife, she wouldn't have to cook!

You am a sick sick puppy......

I miss the old C rats. They were far better than the early MRE's. I'd rather eat Ham and Lima Beans C rats than some of the first MRE's. I haven't had any MRE's now since the late 80's. I would hope by now they had more of them that were fit to eat besides the hotdogs meal.

Only thing I didn't like about MRE's was the dehydrated fruit and that we didn't have those fancy heaters in them like they do today. We had to come up with creative ways to heat up our food.

Tonight I had for dinner breaded chicken breast with cavatelli pasta in a tomato sauce, most nom nom nommy!  With it came wheat bread and cheese with bacon spread, 2 large fig bars and a nice big back of nut raisin mix with pan coated chocolate disks.  9 out of 10!

I used to pick them up at the Army/Navy surplus, the chili mac isn't too bad.  Some commissary's have them too.

In the operational world we carry them on board the boat for extended missions.
