It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

Couple quick notes:

1.  I love the Star Trek reference in the 2nd paragraph...really made me think "hey this must be a well-planned argument" :)

2.  I live 7-8 blocks from the Trinidad area in DC.  It's a hellhole, theres really no other description.  My girlfriend teaches at a public high school just outside of it (Dunbar, if you've heard of it) and several of her students are from the area.  It is truly an indescribable place.

That being said, the blockades are pretty useless.  If someone wants to bring things in/out of Trinidad, they are going to.  There's really no point in invading the privacy of everyone, in a vain attempt to pull some drugs/guns off the street.  The only thing this is going to accomplish is to further alienate the neighborhood...which takes some doing considering it's current state.

I tried to imagine what it may look like to see blockades in my hometown of Canandaigua, NY.  (relatively well to do suburb of Rochester)  I laugh at the thought.  Whats to stop it from happening everywhere?  common sense.

We've seen this kind of situation before, on a larger scale. The Berlin wall. It took over 4 decades to resolve that one. I wonder how long it will be before the check points are constructed.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Well thanks for pulling that one so nicely out of context Cap.  If you'll notice the paragraph earlier I clearly stated I think the blockades are a useless invasion of privacy.

nononono.......that wasn't a shot at you!

i pulled that out, because of the commen sense part. most people....especially in the areas where they'll try it first.....lack common sense.....thus my comment of   there-in lies the problem.

i'm being good on these boards. or trying to anyway. i wasn't trying to insult you in any way........

Ah all right :) sorry Cap I just notice an overwhelming level of people taking kidney shots at each other over minor issues on here :(  My mis-read.

But yea, I agree that too many people fail to make the distinction.  I'd like to think I can stay in the crowd who knows slightly better -- who knows :noid
