I dont know if this has been asked yet but other than fraps what other programs are listed to make movies from ours??? any help would be appreciated

I know Sony Vegas is a big one, but very expensive.

Windows Movie Maker is the free one a lot of beginners use.

I use Guncam (shareware) to capture the film in the AH filmviewer, then usually Windows Moviemaker (comes with the operating system).  There are other programs too, like Super (c) to handle file conversions, or VirtualDub, to handle things like cropping the video frames.

Does Guncam allow capture of clips longer then 30 seconds?  I can't bring myself to use the free version of fraps due to the capture limitation and the fraps across the top.  I also don't want to pay for fraps if there is something free to make the capture.  Once captured, I use Roxio Video Wave8 for the editing.  All that said, I've only made one film, so what do I know.

He may not, but he may be like me. The short time I attempted film capture, I despised filming limitations. Always had me watching the clock to make sure I got the shot.

With what little film-making experience I have (like a couple of months in AH2), added to the years of average-quality photography, I've learned to shoot more than I think I need.  It might take 50 pictures to find "The One".  You also need some roll-in and roll-out time in your films to allow for scene transitions.  You can always cut a scene shorter, but it's dang hard to make one longer.

You don't "need" 3rd party capture software. You can get good avi's from the film viewer it's self.
I used fraps in my film for fx (matrix) shots and capturing higher res for some shots.
All you need is the film viewer, a NLE and your good to go.

The problem for some of us, though, is that the export process won't operate properly. Therefore FRAPS is a must.

I go AH Viewer, I do my scene cutting there.  With scene capture etc.  I like this because I can get all my camera shots, and views from the other players.  Once I have all my scenes I use fraps to convert them to something my movie maker  (Magix Movie Maker 12) Best Buy.  Not too expensive.  I use it for all my family video and actual flying videos as well.  There inside MM12 I can do almost anything.

I suggest MM12 because Windows Movie Maker died on my once to no avail getting it back.  I lost valuable films.  So....

MM12 is pretty good.  Havent seen Vegas but I bet thats really good too.

If you're willing to spend the $20 reg fee, I recommend Guncam. 

I've found it to be an invaluable tool for several reasons but primarily for the freedom it gives me.  I record films in AH, obviously, but I rerecord and convert to AVI in Guncam while viewing it in the film viewer.  While that adds a step to the videomaking process, it gives me control of what I record, how much, different shots, etc., and best of all, I can capture in-game voice and sounds, which is something the AH Filmviewer AVI converter won't do.  Then you can splice the AVI bits converted from Guncam within MS Moviemaker, Vegas, Premiere, VirtualDub,or even within Guncam itself (but that feature set is still a little limited so I prefer something like MSMM or Premiere). If you don't care about sound, or unlimited record times, by all means go with Fraps, but personally, I've found Guncam to be worth the price.

What's wrong with Fraps recording sounds?  Never had an issue with Fraps and using game sounds with it.
