Self Sealing Fuel Tanks

The allies had used Self-Sealing fuel tanks to prevent becomming a fireball and prevent minor leakage. Whenever when your Jug takes a hit in the tank you have about 1 minute 16 seconds to find a ditch zone. Hasn't anyone ever wondered why this was not incorperated into the game?

Self-sealing fuel tanks were only able to seal holes from small caliber weapons (IIRC). 20mm and larger and it's time to RTB with all possible dispatch.







BTW, if chuck is still alive, he will pwn you for using his name.  If he's on the other side, he will surely pwn you when you get there.

Almost all WWII combat aircraft had them, but of the two you picked, one did not.  Early War Japanese combat aircraft are about the only ones that lacked self sealing tanks.  Later Japanese aircraft such as the N1K2-J, Ki-84 and Ki-67 had self sealing tanks.

Self-sealing fueling would be nice to have. Might help those that like to fly the perk planes.

Oh yeah, Chuck Yeager is a Major General(Ret.) He was promoted to O-8 after he retired.

I beleive, it safe to say we already have them. Our fuel tanks dont leaks until some damage threshold passed (few 7mm isnt enough) and dont ignites with single 12mm bullet hit. Isnt it exactly that sealed tanks should do?

Yes, they are already modeled.
