Don't forget 3D headsets..... That + TrackIR would be sweet... Was almost gonna get a setup like that, but then I realized AHII is fun, it just ain't $450 fun.

Look how much throw you need to move the stick forward and back, he's almost falling out of the chair, no not for me.

I agree Kaz!  Geez, you need an extension on your arm.   :rock

unfortunately he doesn't know what he's talking about in that 5%, so the pictures are the more intelligent posts he has.

You know it's only a matter of time before someone puts a HOTAS and LCD screen on one of these.

Hey Guys,

I'm currently putting together a much lower cost option Sim Pit. I had an early prototype at the convention and the first response was very positive, but I have been very busy making modifications based on the input from everyone there (i.e. HiTechs request to make the stick move forward and back with the seat adjustment, and suggestions by Bob Shaw and Grayeagle about stick placement and range of motion.) I have also got a hold of P51 Schematics (thank you Waffle) and am currently trying to match up the ergonomics to make this a true WWII cockpit simulator. My plan is to provide it as just plans, a basic kit (- the electronics) and a fully built sim pit so that anyone can afford to have one. Let me know if you are interested and I would be happy to send you some pictures. As for the computer, triple displays, and Track IR, I have those dialed in to perfection.

I would also be happy to build these as special order custom jobs to incorporate your own style or preferences as well.
My simpit will be an enhancement to flying and not a distraction. That huge stick movement and the crazy pitching and swaying makes no sense at all!

PM or e-mail me at texas_rockdog@hotmail.com for more information.
I'm also just south of Dallas and would welcome you to come visit my workshop and see what I'm doing first hand.

Cheers,

Rockdog

3D headsets already include trackers. However they would be incompatible with these sorts of simpits as the tracker tracks head movements using accelerometers and gyrocompasses - so any movement from the motion simulator would screw things up.

IMHO the sense of vertigo you get from a 3D headset is better than any motion simulator could give you. Games become a vastly different experience when you start seeing them in real 3D. The feeling of motion you get close to the deck, or during a knife fight is insane.

Which head set do you use Vulcan?

I was stupi enough to think that they were about come out with a high resolution version due to the price drop. It made me hesitate on buying one, then a month later, I broke downa nd was going to buy the 800 and the price was up 400%!!!

Nice marketing.... Idiots...

And still nothing on the high res front.
