Hope to see a tower-only dot dar option in 1.08.

It would enhance the historic quality of the CT and Special Events, (where it is appropriate to the simulated era and environment).

Also, providing tower-only dot dar in the MA when HQ is down (at fields where dar was intact), would enhance playability, and represent a "realistic" switch from global C&C to local control.

I reread it and it still looks like he wants a WWI arena with WWII aircraft to me. I don't think that's what he really wants, but I bet that's what he'd get if this were implimented.

Guys, they had radar in WWII, get over it.

Having radar in the towers only doesn't simulate jack unless there is a way to relay that info to the guys who are flying, and 9 times out of 10 there won't be anybody volunteering to sit in the tower as ground control.

The CT is already nearly empty, this would simply guarantee that it would stay empty.

The MA change would simply remove any reason to bomb the HQ.

basically, like combat theatre, but with added dot dar while sitting in the tower. same as CT when in flight

sounds like a good idea to me.  The MA could continue with dot dar for all I care, but the option for dots in tower only would be great for CT and scenarios.

The more I read about radar In WWII the more I find how sophisticated it became.
However Day fighters still relied on vectors from RT and never had the benefit of in cockpit radar friend or foe identification.

IFF was in its infancy and  pilots were warned of possible threats. However it still boiled down to  visual ID once push came to shove.

Would  tower only dot ID radar   work ... maybe, but it would require the participant to  recieve some rewards , like perk points per time spent in tower .

And with some of the new features and sounds  one  gets in the towers these days, it might not be a bad spot to spend  some time helping out your country and in the mean time be entertained .

The future is out there. It just takes one day at a time  for it to evolve

Karnak, you don't understand.

They're talking about not having radar dots WHEN FLYING.  When your on the ground, then there would be dots on the map.

You would still have the sector counters, which does a good job of simulating a ground controller vector telling you, "Hey, there are enemy planes up there."  The radar is still there, just only on the ground.  When your between flights you could act as a ground controller.

If something like this is done I think the ground based radar system should be beefed up to include altitude and speeds of the dots.  Radar on the ground was able to figure all this out on a plot table.

They had only ground radars for most part and in very late aircraft fitted radars, which were real big and still not accurate enough.
Ground radars couldn't have followed invidual planes and not give as accurate location of those.
To get pilots know whereabouts of large formation, it had a delay and yet they didn't have magic pinpointer.

sounds to me that it would be very realistic option to have inflight radar disabled and leave 'ground radar' in work. (tower)

Monica, Perfectos and serrate was carried by many a MkVI in day light raids over and thru cloud cover....


American AI MkXV (ASH)was also fitted to MKVI's (instead of machine guns) Mossies of 23, 141 and 515 squadrons in June 44.

MkVI's also flew jamming raids ahead of their own bombers (late war raids)jamming enemy radar

These were not specifically night fighters but  day light intruders fitted with radar..................
