The more I read about radar In WWII the more I find how sophisticated it became.
However
Day fighters still relied on vectors from RT and never had the benefit of in cockpit radar friend or foe identification.
IFF was in its infancy and pilots were warned of possible threats. However it still boiled down to visual ID once push came to shove.
Would tower only dot ID radar work ... maybe, but it would require the participant to recieve some rewards , like perk points per time spent in tower .
And with some of the new features and sounds one gets in the towers these days, it might not be a bad spot to spend some time helping out your country and in the mean time be entertained .
The future is out there. It just takes one day at a time for it to evolve
