What about adding sounds for turrets movement, guns elevation, chute open and a generic sea mixed with engine sound for ships?

We REALLY need better damage sounds  :)

 ...

The " *pzoing pzoing* " ping sounds are irritating rather than scary, and damage situation sound "*kkkkkrash*" is like somebody hitting an aluminum trash can with a baseball bat  :D

Though I haven't the slightest idea, surely, wouldn't hot points of metal slugs hitting armored plating sound more.. um... um..... er, whatever it should sound like  :D ?

Kweassa those sounds do exist.  Visit the sound forum and ask around.

I doubt these sim developers are going to spend much time with sound engineering anymore.  The customer of course is never satisfied and goes and makes his own.  So why spend development $$ on samples etc? +)

skurj you seem to know your stuff so how would i, if i had a turret movement sound, make AH use it in the game?
is it similar to other sounds?
eg get a whistle sound you like and put in sound folder and name it 'drop'?

if so whats the name we have to name our turret sound?

ive adapted most sounds in AH..stole a few from other wargames etc  :) got a very nice bomb hit sound with bits of wood hitting the floor after etc and I very much like the ideas mandoble has mentioned.

hehe i don't have a clue...
You won't be able to put a turret sound in the game unless its been hardcoded.  The game has to call for a sound or no go...

I imagine more of these sounds will be added in the future, i just wonder how high/low they would be on the priority list.  System requirements will likely be a concern too.

Where is that P-51 landing gear sound that had the sound of the auxiliary doors opening also?  I can't find it!   :(
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

Who was it that made the excellent sounds for almost the entire planeset last winter... I remember it starting with the P-51, adding that lovely merlin roar.

And a bullet hitting something hard (wing spar etc) would probably go "ping". Hitting sheet metal or wood it'd most likely just go "tick".

To get a turret sound, simply get a friend to sit next to you while you are playing AH with their finger on the eject button of a 1970's Top loader VCR and get them to press it in time to your turret movement.
Im going now to eat some more of those mushrooms i found growing in my garden. For some reason, whenever I eat them strange and amusing things happen to me.
