Edog, just so you know the Hi-res pack will not solve your problem. It's only a texture enhancement download package. If you think the game is running slower now, too slow for your comfort. Remove the Hi-Res texture package. It can really bog down older systems.

^ I knew the problem wasn't related to the high res texture pack.  That's what I was trying to point out.  I guess I better learn to communicate more clearly.

And your right, there is a reason I wasn't running the high res textures, it cuts my frame rate in half.  :cry

So, anyone out there know why this happens?  I'm fairly certain that it isn't due to the game only recognizing three keystrokes at a time.

Well on my system, the computer gives me the, "beep." You know, the beep you hear in Safe Mode where the sound card is disabled? That tells me that the system is probably limiting the input and therefore preventing you from using the key combination. So this might be a Windows issue. However since I'm not running XP or Vista I can't confirm this to be true.

maybe turning the number lock key off might help.
