changing from fighter to attack in the aircraft
« on: December 09, 2008, 12:44:31 PM »
I know this is a bit petty, but I am getting older and forget all to often to change from fighter to attack mode and visa versa.  I know that when your on a mission it asks you how you would like to be scored.  Just wondering how hard it would be to make this pop up permanent or add a .command to make the change yourself.

Thanks
They call it "common sense", then why is it so uncommon?

It would be nice for when you find PT's on your fighter mission  ;) -- but I don't think it can happen.  It would mess up how sorties are recorded and scored, as you may begin a sortie attack and end it fighter.  Which one would it fall under in this case?

What would be nice is some way to verify in flight what mode you are in.  It is easy to forget to note what the score mode setting in the hanger was before take-off.

well to simplify things if you shoot air targets you get fighter points and if you hit Ground targets you get attack points

There are more than just "points" in the scoring system.  Just based on hit percentage, it cannot work the way you say.  The game would not have a way of tracking whether to score misses aginst fighter hit % or attack hit % since it would not know which type of target you were trying to shoot at.  There would be complications with other scoring stats also.

how about a option where you could leave it on attack all the time if you wanted to.

Score potatoes would be using a dot command to change their sorties in flight based on how many vultches or picks they got. A pop-up like before missions would be a nice idea though

I know where the OP is comming from.  Could a preference be added (or a check-box "Prompt before flight" added next to the current buttons) so that, just like in a mission, you're prompted how you want to score the sortie just before you hit the runway?

How about setting it up as "control mode XXX" programmable to whichever plane.
Amazing you could actually recruit that much suck into one squad.

I agree that it's hard to remember to switch the button, and I'm only 29.

That said, my "fix" would be to do away with the attack category all together.  Loading up your fighter with bombs should still count as a fighter sortie.

That might end "suicidal lemming" jabo'ing.  :aok

Then again, it might end jabo'ing, period.  :(

Would you still get credit for your buildings blowed up and tanks destroyed and what have you?

If it were a dot command, yes I totally agree
