I actually enjoyed the heck out of the Thriller album.  Some really good stuff on there IMO...

As for rap, unfortunately it is music.  Music is not only melody, it's rhythm.  Rap lyrics are done to a rhythm instead of a melody and is therefore more of a percussive type of thing.  That being said, I hate it.  I can appreciate Run DMC's early stuff as well as some of Will Smith's work, but this gangsta crap is nothing but shock radio.

It doesn't matter how much money they have now. In about five years when they spent it all on cristal, bling, rims, cars, and houses and have nothing left to pay taxes they'll be broke again back to slinging rocks in the "hood" getting shot up because they don't know what to do when they get money.

As a form of musical expression rap has it's place on the musical menu.

However, rap isn't even the fast food of music, it's more like the junk food of music; Prepackaged and easy to consume.

How can you not call this music

Something like it's elder brother-
Wing tips rounded, spinner's bigger.
Unbraced tailplane ends it's figure.
One-O-nine F is it's name-
F is for futile, not for fame."

It's nice to see that some people aren't being affected by the poopeous global economy!

But of course, those that aren't affected are the ones with the millions.

To celebrate Lil' Wayne's 26th birthday, rapper Birdman threw him a huge party on Monday in Miami hotspot Mansion nightclub.

Birdman, who Lil'Wayne calls his "adopted father", really went all out for the event. The two even have matching cross tattoos on their foreheads.

There was large Cash Money Records ice sculpture in the room. And the sculpture was holding bottles of Cristal, which usually retail for $1,000. There were 30 bottles there alone.

Other ice sculptures had $100 bills frozen inside.

But that isn't the best part of the night.

Pretty boy Lil' Wayne got an even better gift from Birdman.

A Lui Vuitton briefcase filled with a MILLION dollars in CASH as a gift!

Seriously!

We hope they both have some really good accountant, cuz you know the IRS is gonna want to see if that money is on the books. And, even if it's a gift, Wayne has to report that money!

Wonder if anyone stayed around for the ice sculptures to melt?

These cats are ballin. I think Wayne sold the most records of 2008. His album was out of this world. What would your dream party be?

Dude..... first you posted about the Jonas Bros and now this ridiculas idiot. My forarm is twitching to give these fools a forarm shiver and then you would follow right after for posting this mindless stuff. That jack donut will be pennyless in 2 years so being jealous of him doesn't even come into the equation.

TwentyFo is absolutely tops at tossing a line. Every single time he posts, I seriously consider whether or not he is posting in earnest or in jest.  Most times I am not able to reach a conclusion.

I knew the argument for rap being music was going downhill when 24 brought up the Grammy's as proof  :lol

Attention everybody, we are currently in the worst musical era of all time.  Truth.

I'm more disappointed with the rock scene actually than I am with anything else.  The biggest names in rock (linkin park, nickleback, buck cherry, hinder, papa roach to name a few) are some of the biggest talentless bellybutton wipes to ever make millions.  Turning on a rock station these days makes my stomach turn.  But if in good company, it's sometimes fun to listen to and make fun of how terrible it is and how it all sounds the same (at least for as long as you can stomach it).  Please bring back 90s rock, where every band was doing it right.
