Task Group Gunnery Modes....
« on: June 07, 2001, 08:53:00 AM »
We know what they're for, but how do they work? What are the new numbers for? How do we use them?

Thanks :)

Normal gunner mode is like maning an ack or being a bomber gunner. You control the gun completely.

Ship gunnery mode tracks a compass bearing and range, you can move the gun, but it moves slowly to make fine corrections. Intended for use against ships.

Land gunnery mode tracks a specific point as the ship moves. Like Sea Mode, the gun will let you make corrections.

As for the numbers, that's easy:

165 (target bearing)  190 (gun's current bearing)
4.6k (target range)   5.3k (current range setting)

Thanks flakbait :)

When in land or sea mode, there is an extra set of numbers.  Degrees left and distance.  The numbers don't seem to line up.  This is where I'm confused.

Whoops, forgot about those. Left and Distance show corrections on your part. If you saw this:

Left: -25    Distance: -403

It means you corrected the shot 25 degrees right and dropped 403 yards from the range.
