Here is how to quote with the linked header and timestamp when there is no quote button available.
As you can see there are three parameters, and all three need valid data to display with a linked header...
author=Murdr link=topic=253819.msg3131703#msg3131703 date=1228868073]
Correct.

Which displays as...
Correct.
author= is easy as all you need is the valid username of the OP
link= can be gathered from the url to that specific message. This can be found by clicking the link on a search return with "display messages only", or from the users recent posts page.
date=Is in UNIX timestamp format, and can be found by using a
converter. (Note that you'll need to adjust the time entered in the converter for time zone differences In the example below I had to add 4 hours for the correct display because I'm GMT -4:00 currently).
So for example if I wanted to quote Skuzzy from
http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,252764.0.html which is a locked topic with no quote button.
a quick search gives me the url for the post
http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,252764.msg3115825/topicseen.html#msg3115825So...
author=
Skuzzylink=
topic=
252764.msg3115825#
msg3115825from the converter...
date=1227530170
1- Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting.
2- Threads should remain on topic, do not "hijack" topics.
3- Do not open a new thread that duplicates a current topic.

And there it is, just as if you used the quote button.
I filed this under trivial and useless because it's a bit of effort just to link a quote to the original post, but darnit, I figured out how to do it
