I'd say it's more the nature of the jet engine, don't you think?

You can run a piston engine for a while when it's hemorrhaging oil and only running on half its cylinders but a 262 engine is a little different. Damage any one of those blades and the whole thing destroys itself. Receiving an oil hit in a 262 is probably incredibly lucky, I'd say.

The problem is, unless there happened something dramatic, anecdotal references does help only so far. Of course this goes both ways. When I suddenly started to lose 262 after 262, it could very well have been just bad luck. And probably it just is ;)

But this are the total 262 K/Ds for the last 24 months, whole LW arena

(Image removed from quote.)

It's not proving anything, but the sudden drop in K/D after update makes me wonder...

Could this be due to the newer version being harder see from in forward view?

Could be. It's definitely more difficult to attack buffs from off angles now.

On the other hand, my 262 seem to be much more prone to go boom from even the slightest damage, but again that is a very subjective experience

Since the update, the wings have improved, the engine damage is realistic...but one or two rounds (especially .50s) will knock off a WHOLE TAIL SECTION of a 262.  A buddy and I winged in 262s and the same thing happened to both...1 or 2 ping sounds and BOOm....no tail.

Buffs seem to have stronger guns this days. That's not a complaint btw as I am in buffs quite a bit. However it could be that my connection and setup are better. Hence no rubber bullets. In one day I took out 2 rook 262s. Now that is rare for me and no I'm not bragging. Killed one that I thought I only took out an engine but he pm'd me and said I took off his wing. Was surprised even though I pinged him steady for a good period of time in ping terms and right around the wing joint.

You never had rubber bullets in AH. Packets containing hit information gets sent over and over until the server receives them.

...the 262 is suffering particulary when attacking bombers now compared to the time before the update - which could lead to the conclusion that indeed the 262 is even  less able to take damage now than before.

I said the same thing after the update, but no one believed me. :P  Though my deaths were magic bullets to the head doing 500mph in a slashing attacks on bomber formations. :noid

The forward view on the 262 is inferior to the previous one.

no worries sir.

how i been losin em for past...ohh...2 or 3 tours that i flown em in since update.

Im not whining about the damage model on it, i actually like that HTC is trying to make small little tweaks here and there on planes to make it more "realistic". As close as im gonna be to flyin for a while... but the tail is extremely soft.
