There's no one else that does it like this:

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Miller's good but he was a lot more commercial.

But as far as I'm concerned, it don't get much better than this:

Not the version I was looking for, you gotta hear the 1956 Newport performance.

I didn't listen to any of the clips above yet, but would have to say that Little Brown Jug should be in that mix somewhere. :)

Love all of it.

I was raised by my grandparents (mostly) so I got a good helping of big-band growing up.

Glenn Miller

Tommy Dorsey

Artie Shaw

Duke Ellington

but......   I'll have to go with Sax on this one   ;)

Benny Goodman had the one and only Gene Krupa.

He put the swing, in swing.     :devil

I'm lodging a complaint! The title whilst accurate led me to have different expectations of the topic.

There's a reason Benny is still known as the King of Swing (and why I think no one else since has used "King" in as a nickname).

I got to play this one in college. It was a dream come true slipping into the role of Hodges. MAN I wish I had that sound:
