« on: December 16, 2008, 01:35:44 PM »
I'm using a nividia 8800gts, 675 watt and 32 amps the rail, 2-gig of ram window xp when in game I see lack of better word shutter or mini freezes, I notice when I bring up my nividia control panel I see a blink on the screen the same as what I see in the game could their be a driver or setting issue?

what are you pre loading in memory? 2 meg is on the low side. If your pre-loading textures and skins you'll be in trouble. I'm not sure if if texture size 256 or 512s makes a difference too.

Should be able to preload textures easy enough, and a small subset of skins as well.

I would like to see a DXDIAG output.  This could simply be another resource related issue.  How many background processes are running?  What is the CPU usage percentage looking like (you need to watch it for atleast one minute)?

I run mine on winblows XP with about 19 services running.  Do you have an anti-virus or winblows update service running?  I never have either running.  A great source for info on background services is www.blackviper.com.  It will explain what services are safe to disable/set to manual/ or need.  I hope this helps you out some.

WinXp 17 processes, mine was as smooth as silk until I introduced a Sound Pack and Skins, haven't had the time to go back and see exactly where the stutter is.  Just a thought

The sound pack is probably the culprit, especially if you are using an onboard sound chip, instead of a good add-on card.

Could be skins also if you are using the high resolution texture pack.

I do have a separate sound card and the high res pack installed, I'm trying to get my dxdiag on this post was having trouble with image shack, the only other place I notice this is when I have my nividia control panel up and it seems to intermittinly do a what looks like refresh blink.

Hey Jay thanks for the info but it doesn't seem to cover Window XP2000 service pack 7
