How about gettin rid of the stupid sector bar for low flying aircraft and vehicles. Then maybe lowlevel attacks and vehicles wouldnt be a waste of time. Or even quadruple the size of the sectors would work. As it is now its like playing with JSTAR & AWACS.

I agree.. 25 miles grid is too small for surprise attack if those dots are visible (you can even see a tank from 8000 yards away or more..)

Of course we can knockout HQ, but that usually involves also destruction of city and ALOT of organized players.
I haven't been too impressed in seeing how good organization there usually is in AH main arena

Amen Skippy, my thoughts exactly about JSTARS and AWACS.  Are we playing WW2 or WW3 here?

The visual ranges in AH (IFF at 5 miles, dots well beyond that) are already longer than I've read of any pilot being able to achieve.

WW2 air combat was not about knowing the location, type, and closure rate of every plane in the tri-state area, then outhinking your opponent at 5 to 15 miles range - It was about sneaking up and bonkin' em on the head!!!

I was under the impression that vehicles do not show up on the sector bar.

I liked WB's radar, where cons would show up once within a certain distance relative to the radar.

I hate the bars.

I go along with this one.  Kill the bars for low flying planes and vehicles.

Aren't the bars supposed to represent information from ground observers?  (As well as make it easier to find a fight.)  If that's the case, then vehicles and low flying planes should show up.

What we need is a delay in the sector bar display to represent the time it takes the beautiful young underground spy to pedal her bicycle past the enemy checkpoints, deliver the information to her group leader, who has to wait tensely for the soldiers to leave the  village pub, so he can use the radio transmitter hidden in the boar's head on the wall.

Seriously, what if the sector bars were updated every ten minutes or so?

Popeye as long as it's not displayed in flight, that sounds good.

What?

No cute little Brit girl voice in our headsets?

"Yellow Lee-dah, Bandits reported sec-tah 7, vector heading 095, buster!"

sniff...I'm going to miss that!

How about this:

Add a new Strat target, the "Village", which controls ground observer communications (sector bars).  Every sector, except those with cities or factories, has a Village.  Villages can be destroyed and captured (with zero rebuild time).  Red sector bars show only in sectors with a friendly Village, have a 5 minute delay, and are visible in flight.  (Green sector bars show everywhere.)  Winning the war captures all Villages in friendly territory, and resets all other Villages to neutral.

This would have a few effects on the game:

Add a valuable new Strat target.

Enable a sneak attack by killing the Villages in advance of the main force.

Simulate "underground" observers by capturing Villages in enemy territory.

Provides a reward for winning the war.

Give ground forces something new to do.
