Iran has a much more capable Air Defense network compared to the fighters/intercept aircraft they operate.
Although this sounds like a "cool" scenario (almost TopGun like), I would imagine this is completely untrue..
Iran knows exactly where it's borders are.. However, as known throughout history, Persians have always considered the first several miles
of surrounding countries as sort of a buffer zone. They like to call this their airspace or their waters. I'm sure if an unknown aircraft
goes beyond this point, surface to air missiles are readied, not aircraft.. They have absolutely nothing that can touch a moderately
advanced air force. Aside from all the propaganda they release, their equipment is substandard for the most part.. Especially their air force..
A more likely scenario would be a pilot straying close to this buffer zone, and then being warned to back-off before they attempt a lock-on with
their surface to air missiles..
