Winter Driving
« on: December 17, 2008, 03:50:48 PM »
Since teh snow been hittin teh NW area lately, I saw some pretty funny stuff at the street outside my home. I live like on top of a hill area so I get to watch people try to go up and slide back down. Myself I couldn't get my truck up that hill so I had to park it else where=/. My speedometer was readin 75 mph but i was slidin backward woot.

Here are some footage of winter driving I found that just set my mood for the day =p.
Dear skuzzie, it's also safe for work.

For most people the sky is the limit.  For a pilot the sky is home.

lol at the driver that bailed out of her car before it hit the others in the first video.  She got lucky she didn't get hit by another car.  I don't suppose it would dawn on those drivers to turn their wheel into the curb to stop/slow them down on a hill like that.

And if you have a truck, hurry!, now is probably the one and only chance/excuse you'll get this year for buying that winch and justify it's purchase to the misses.  Just pull yourself up that hill, and then once at the top, charge $20 a car to winch them up to the top.

That ought to pay for that winch rather quickly.

I own a 4 wheel drive truck, when it gets that bad, I stay home. 4WD + Ice = Disaster & Big $$$$

Up at big Bear Lake in WV recently there was a lot of snow.  I was making a right hand turn and felt my rear wheels slipping.  So I pulled my emergency brake and hit the gas.  I treated the slide like I would have if I was drifting on wet pavement.

Seems like Oregon would have more trucks out trying to de-ice and whatnot....Now put that mess in South Carolina....imagine what it gets like down here.  :O

Perfect excuse to buy a Subaru WRX STI. Don't have one myself, but that's the only car I've ever had the pleasure of riding along inside during an inclement SC winter. Ice all over the place and it still goes like stink (and can actually stop afterwards).  :aok

Every Golly-geen winter here everybody forgets how to drive in the winter.  The first snow is like disaster city.  I'm amazed hows many more 4x4 vehicles I see in the ditch over just regular cars because people think its made for that.  If you want to drive the speed limit in the left snow covered lane, be my guest.  But stay away from me and I'll enjoy my lower insurance rates.

I drove 4 1/2 hours last night (3 hour normal drive) on a trip and I eventually got off the interstate because of idiot drivers and the semis that speed past you kicking up snow, which was like hitting a wall of white fog 4 feet from your hood.

It's this time of year I pitty those in law enforcement.

lol, that hill clip reminded me of driving in the snow in Sante Fe out in the hills. There was this one hill i wan trying to get up in my 2 wheel drive truck. Took 3 tries. The last go i just piled snow and rocks in the back and locked it into first and gunned it.

A drunk driver will run a stop sign. A stoned driver will stop until it turns green.
